Nimh HV battery and discharge 40 amps

If you go by what is stated in post 15, at the time lead-acid was not preferable but was the least expensive. Nimh was better suited but the poster claimed it would raise costs. Li-ion was also mentioned as likely to improve range and performance, but "wasn't there yet" and would have still higher costs. (If there was a feasible alternative, you think they would have done so)

I don't know what the battery industry was doing back then, nor do I care. I also don't have a lot of interest in what is mostly a historical oddity. There aren't too many Gen2 PIP mod running around any more.

So personally, if you want to resurrect a dead thread, go for it. I just don't really see the point.

I think you mean lifepo4 like the thundersky available at the time and not li-ion which no one used in an EV unless they were into reckless endangerment.
Of course with TS you had to get it from the real factory not the knock off factory of employees that mutinied and infringed to the point of using the same name and even claiming ownership of the IP, and provided cells that contained only 80% product, but those were cost effective compared to lead lol.
