So a BZ4X for a week or two, then? ---- Honestly, if I were you, given that you've already got a good EV, I'd wait for a bit. There's so much coming out over the next year or so. If BYD, NIO and Xpeng make it to America, they could all be interesting in themselves, but will also drive down prices of American, German and Korean EVs.
I agree that EV technology continues to accelerate and best of all, emerging from the factories. The car isn't broke so I'm more inclined to run it as long as possible. Then worry about the next EV. Bob Wilson
Some data points: 260,000 mi (416,000 km) - 2003 Prius (Gen 1) end of life when hydraulic booster failed in a too difficult place to replace. Mounted on the firewall behind the engine wrapped by air conditioning hoses in addition to the brake lines. 73,000 mi (117,000 km) - 2014 BMW i3-REx continues in service with ~70 mi (112 km) EV range. Modified 640 cc, two cylinder motorcycle engine, the range extender, continues to work fine. 78,000 mi (125,000 km) - 2019 Tesla Model 3 Std Rng Plus in service with ~220 mi (352,000 km) EV range. Too soon to tell but it appears these PHEV and EV have long operational lives. Perhaps because they do not have so many parts working at their design limits under high temperatures. Bob Wilson
You can always wait for the next shiny object and it will always be just over the horizon. I tend to buy when I see some significant perceptible advantage in the new compared to the current. It might be form factor, features, safety, warranty, or just because I'm bored and want something new. Average time between car purchases is about 8 years. Average miles on the car I sell, maybe 70-80 thousand. People buying my cars get a great car at a great price.
