This isn't my photo. So there is a 2 wire harness that connects to the car's wiring, then it loops around the safety plug receptacle and actually plugs into it. Where the car's wiring plugs in, is on the top of the black safety plug receptacle. But there is nothing connecting where it plugs into, literally just a plastic box. I shone a light inside the hole and see no wiring, sensor, etc of any kind, and the end of the connector is just that..a connector. Here's another shot of it. Only thing I can think of is maybe when a dealer is testing the battery..it plugs into something else instead of the service plug? Because it's weird it doesn't terminate into a sensor.
Doesn't the safety interlock switch bridge those pins to form a circuit (when the slide handle is pressed down vertically and clicks into place) so the battery ECU knows that the safety interlock is installed?
Another pic here, orange interlock has 2 pins that bridge the white connector. Safety Plug not Seating Fully after Battery Replacement | PriusChat
This wire has been discussed dozens of times. It's sometimes forgotten to be reconnected by a new DIYer after rebuilding a battery, which leads to the car not working because the car ecu never recognizes that the safety plug is inserted.
