To those who "ordered" and received a Prius Prime. How long was it from date of order to when the car arrived. Please give state and dealer name in your reply. Also what was the mark up if any. Thanks in advance
I placed a deposit for a PP xle in August 2022. I am in a que and 5th in line. I am told 3-6 months. I wonder what will happen to my 2022 when the 2023 comes out and I have no car??? As an update. I live in NC but had to order the car from Maryland. I was told by a dealer that the PP cars are only going to states that have some sort of plan for reduced emissions. I have not verified this but no NC dealer I called would take my deposit for a Prime.
Salut Louis. When did you order/receive your car? 81 days is very good these days, though I guess Quebec still gets one the higher allotments in Canada due to the rebates. I put a deposit for a PP in May here in Ontario and was told 6-8 month wait, but given production of 2022’s has stopped now, I don’t expect to have car until the spring (or summer? ), once the 2023’s are out. That is fine as my 2014 is still running well so I am not in a rush, though I would like to change my car while the used market is crazy to get good value on my sell/trade... No idea where I am on the waitlist these days, but will inquire when I go in for an oil change in about 4-6 weeks. In Ontario, dealers cannot sell new cars above MSRP (I think it is the same across Canada, but not sure), so that is good. Cheers.
Salut Kevin In a nutshell I ordered my prime in mid november 2021 and received it at the end of january 2022.At the time when I ordered ,the dealer mentionned that the worst case scenario could be 4 to 6 months and the best case scenario could be 2 months.... Back then I did not know where I was in the waiting list. When I got the car I saw on the papers delivered with the car that it was built in december 2021. The picture now, with the geopolitics changing , it could impact delivery time. As you say , since the production of the 2022 as stopped now in Japan , could it be that they need to ajust the production chain for the new model ....a lot of rumors on the next gen prius are circulating Hope you get your new car ASAP. and get a good value your sell/ trade
So I don't have mine yet but I'm next on the list...I suspect October. I put down my deposit on June 6 2022. If I had wanted a dark gray I would have my allocation today. Of course, I've been told even when you accept an allocation it is anywhere between 6-8 weeks for delivery. Just as an aside...I noticed that this current allocation had at least 2 primes across the board in the 5 dealerships I regularly check. So....looks like things are improving

You may want to hold off a few months, if you can. Rumors are the Gen 5 Prius Prime (coming out in December) will have larger batteries and over double the EV range (100 miles)....very exciting if true!
Like you say ...Rumors .....very exciting if true !! but 100 miles EV is probably out off range. Jumping from 25 miles to 50 miles would be great ...but 100 miles is near BEV territory .
The miles should read kilometers. Toyota is rumored to be trying for 100km of range. Which would be 60 miles, but Japan uses WLTP now. While that gets a more realistic result than NEDC and JC08, it is still more optimistic than EPA window ratings.
The article says improved to 100km, so that's a range of 62 miles... It seems that Toyota is adjusting the schedule in the direction of a full model change of the super ace "Prius" of the hybrid corps in late December. The next-generation model, which will be the fifth generation, will adopt a platform newly developed by TNGA. Although it inherits the basic 5-door hatchback layout, it has a wide and low coupe shell and a higher quality sports and stylish shell. The hybrid power unit is an improved 1.8L lithium-ion battery, and the PHEV, which will be set at the same time, is a newly developed 2L, and development is underway to extend the cruising range to 100km. It is very likely that a Gen 5 Prius HEV will be available in late January 2023. However, honestly I doubt a Gen 5 Prius PHEV will be available anytime before December 2023. Neither of the previous-generation Prius PHEVs was introduced along with the Prius HEVs. Given the supply-chain problems, few people will get into the driving seat of one before Summer 2024. So, if you are holding out for a Gen 5 Prius PHEV, it will probably be a two-year wait from now.
Besides....I like the look of the current prime. If they really overhaul it...I may not like it as much. I can't wait either. Too risky as my daughter is going to need my old prius or her college internship next semester....
Toyota was treating the PHEV versions of the Prius as a separate model. From the Japanese rumor articles, it sounds like that may no longer be the case.
I’m actually torn about that as well. I also think the current Prime looks nicer than the leaked photos so far, though the rumored increases to power and range are appealing (and would still prefer a new model over an outgoing one). I would also reserve final judgement until I see a final design, though the gen4 / PP leaked photos were basically identical to the final product. Also, this crazy used market won’t last forever, so if I can unload my 200k KM 2014 PiP for a premium price, I would do so… So, with my deposit since a few months now, I will just deal with whatever comes and make a decision at that time.
Yeah so just to clean up the thread It's 100km rumoured (not 100 miles). It's based on the JC08 cycle which pegs the current Prime at 68km so you can do the math for the conversion to EPA for the rumoured 100km. Yes it'll be launched at the same time (or very close behind) the regular Prius, not 1 year like it was for the Prime. My estimation is 65km EPA range conservatively. If Toyota can stretch it to 70 or 80km, great! But it'll need to be at least 15kWh to qualify for larger rebates in some jurisdiction so I suspect the next gen Prime will have 15.8-17.6kWh (9 or 10 modules). 9 modules will give it near my estimated 65km. 10 modules will push it somewhere between 70 and 80 km. But then to have to offset it with extra weight and a bit more cooling so knock 1-2km off that.
Tideland, are you referring to Canada here, or elsewhere? FYI, the feds here recently changed the criteria in April when the iZEV program was extended, where the primary criteria is no longer battery size (+/- 15KWh), but rather all electric range (+/- 50km). (Difference between $2500 and $5000 rebate directly off the purchase price at point of sale). iZEV – Program resources for dealerships …Which is why I am highly confident the ‘23 Prius Prime will be eligible for the larger rebate, since the outgoing model is already rated for 40km and I would be VERY surprised if the new model doesn’t pick up at least another 10km, to keep pace with Hyundai/Kia and others.
