in the gasket master video, they clearly are in a piece that is an extension of the short block. I checked the oil filter housing and didnt recall seeing anything there either.

do these rings sit on the block and i will have to glue them or something? Because in the picture I posted there clearly is no grooves for the rings to be inserted into.

Are the rings/grooves on on timing chain cover?

When you put the timing cover on, you will see the grooves on the timing cover.
Which is what I meant, but said on the housing. I guess I was thrown off by the picture
with the timing cover off.... sorry...
Look on the timing cover... like in the photo above.

For clarity, this is where the o-rings go:

I replaced the oil filter assembly on our 2010 (converting to spin-on style oil filter): it goes on top of the timing chain cover, which has oil passage holes with recesses for those O-rings.

Ah, see @Mr. F has addressed it, anyway.

    My next question:

I went to a Toyota dealership and asked for assistance finding these O-rings. Although the representative I worked with was pleasant, I felt he was unsure about the parts I needed.

The next o-ring in question is under the valve cover. The new one I ordered (right) is smaller than the original (left). Is it common for these to swell up/increase in size over time? This looks pretty significant size difference.

    Link to video 32:43 seconds

(also, the other o-ring I ordered which looks like a ghost/surprise face/has 3 circle - this was roughly the same size as the original.

Not 100% sure, but from the so-so pic on this page:

CYLINDER HEAD. 2011 Toyota Prius Hatchback | Toyota

Second pic on that page, you need to select it, and enlarge it. Screen-grab:

    upload_2022-10-14_9-12-3.png

    It might be:

    90430-10024

FWIW, Toyota makes a gasket kit, includes head gasket and all these. Part number for the kit is:

    04111-37315

    found in attached.

    My next question:

    •Refer to video
    about 23:27 seconds in:

•I need three o-rings, it looks two on the head and one on the short block.

•Per the photo Mendel posted, are these item# 96721-24015 (Ring, O , For Oil Strainer) ???

    Screenshot 2022-10-14 133755.jpg

•Also, is the one on the short block the same part number? The ones I were given from Toyota didn't come in a bag with a part number and I they look too big/skinny:
    IMG_20221013_093650892.jpg

•Basically what I'm asking is for the part number for the three o-rings recommended in the video at this step:

I wish Toyota would publish a parts list for the gasket kit. Maybe they have but I haven’t found. I do have a flakey memory: somone posted a low res print of the numbers, I typed it out one time, but good luck trying to find it.

Thank you! You wouldn't happen to know the part number for the three o-rings in this part of this video? (about 23:27 minutes in, but link should take you directly to it)

    Well car is reassembled.

-When starting Prius in maintenance mode, it runs for maybe 10 seconds or so and then the engine stops working.
-I have had my car sitting around 3 months.
-I get the yellow triangle, check hybrid system, then it says low HV traction.
    -Also receiving code P3190

Is this an issue with the hybrid battery? Is there anyway to fix this without having to change the hybrid battery? My 12v battery also died and was able to charge that overnight. Can you charge the hybrid battery in a similar way?

*Edit, forgot to include the following:
-The first time starting my car (normally, not in maintenance mode) - it seemed to run for about 20-30 seconds or so then died.
-Then I tried running in maintenance mode. It would run for about 10 seconds then stop. It did the same thing a couple more times when attempting to put the car in maintenance mode. Now, after several tries, it won't even run in maintenance mode, it shuts right off.
