Featured Toyota Crown Released and Final Specs

    The New Shape of Innovation: Toyota Crown Arrives in Early 2023 - Toyota USA Newsroom

    Won't be able to purchase this mid-sized sedan until early 2023, however, here are the starting prices for each trim. XLE starts at $39,950, Limited starts at $45,550, and Platinum for $52,350. All trims come standard with AWD-i.

    Summary:
    XLE and Limited trims get the venerable THS system with the 184 hp 2.5L engine, 88 kW (118 hp) MG2, and 40 kW (54 hp) MGR for a total of 236 hp. This system is similar to the Sienna including a bipolar NiMH 230.4V battery and with a weight of 4,250 lb (1,907 kg) scoots along at 7.6 seconds to 60 mph. EPA is slightly above Toyota's initial estimate at 41 mpg (5.74L/100km) combined. That'll give you a range of about 495 miles (797 km) on a tank of gas.

    Platinum trim gets the Hybrid Max system with a 340 hp 2.4L Turbo engine, 61 kW (82 hp) MGF, and a 58.6 kW (79 hp) MGR for a total 340 hp. The 6 speed direct shift tranny pumps the 4,306 lb (1,953 kg) vehicle to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. EPA, again, slightly beats Toyota estimate at 30 mpg (7.84L/100km) combined.

    Under the massive infotainment screen there’s a cramped row of uniform buttons for heat/vent mode, heated seats and sundry. No dials/sliders in evidence for fan speed or temp: all touch screen?

    21” wheels? Toyota, we have to talk…

    Decent specs. Still can’t get over the design though.

    Yeah that front end with the lower lip, meh. o_O I'd put the reviews in the Toyota section. Already some of the reviewers are comparing it to Lexus and at those prices. :eek: They have a Canadian announcement yet?

    Oof yeah if you spring for the Platinum edition you'll get 21" wheels. I would be in the market more for the XLE or Limited which come with 19". They are heavy enough at about 54 lbs (24.5 kg) with the tires. It has those up and down press sliders for the fan speed.

    Looks like they have, yes.



    Toyota Crown comes well-equipped at a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $45,590 for the XLE grade, $50,990 for the Limited grade, and $59,990 for the Platinum grade. Toyota Crown is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in early 2023.

    The Crown was Toyota's Lexus before they had Lexus.
    Sounds like the Crown BEV isn't going to happen. Well, at least in its current form.
