All lights came on today. codes P0A80 and P3016. On hold with the dealer for battery price. May be needing advice soon. If not, i’ll update on experience. Currently 3 hours away for holidays iPhone ?
How many miles on the vehicle? Appears that you have a failed module or two, how handy is the friends and family circle where you're at now? Where might that be, as another member may be able to help.
South Chicagoland. car has 101k miles and is in great shape. called 4 dealers and cheapest is $1950, but not in stock until Monday. Not a handy circle/family and my tools are 3 hours away
Low mileage on that pack, and it would be a pity to give it back to the dealer as a core when someone could continue to use the leftovers. Swapping out the failed module(s) might also be an option, then hope it holds until you can 'grid charge' or balance the HV battery. Wonder if @ericbecky could be of assistance (closer), or even @strawbrad in MN. Normally wouldn't recommend driving with the current condition, but if babied along you might make it to a destination without incident. Then there is always the upgrade to AAA, and have it towed up to 200 miles.
thanks for the advice. Just got back from paying for the battery. dealer quoted me 2500, but price matched the 1950 from another dealer. Should be ready tomorrow and my electrician brother in law volunteered to help me install. I owe him, as the labor quote was 800. as far as the low mileage core comment, I don’t have much time to order modules
Don't hand over the 'old core' until you've swapped out the needed parts (not included) into your new HV battery. Someone may still be interested in the old core, but they would need to supply 28 old/used modules for swapping into your old battery case. Be sure to inspect or clean the HV battery fan when removing the rear trim during the battery installation.
the dealer said it won’t arrive today anymore. “maybe monday or tuesday”. they said I can’t cancel the order either
took about an hour and a half to get the battery removed. Did it myself without any power tools. I separated the bolts/fasteners in four containers: cosmetic/interior panels, battery covers, battery to car, then battery itself. I will update on swapping in the new modules when i’m back next weekend. I am not super handy, but I thought this has been very reasonable thus far.
i was expecting just the modules not all this beautiful shiny stuff. any videos on how to replace with dealer OEM kit? everything i watched was swapping modules itself
NEED HELP. all done minus this one plug in. where does it plug in? i can’t find it to save my life iPhone ?
there is an opening underneath to plug it into. Car fired right up with no lights on the dash! here’s to another 16 years for this prius with a new battery! (fingers crossed) Took me 3.5 hours to figure out the switching of the ecu and such to the new battery without any instructions. longer than i would have liked, but the tools i was working with were not ideal. (tons of mismatched sockets and extensions)
How did you come to acquire tools that are mismatched? You must do tool inventory before and after a repair. Simple visual scan. Since everybody's tool sets are different it's not possible for someone else to do inventory easily and hence they will not. They also don't care about your tools and will not return them to the same location. Searching for a socket will take up brain cells and distract you from your projects. This will lead to unnecessary issues with the quality of your work. When I worked for a bobcat dealer I told the boss that I needed my own building to be left alone. I would close the door at 9:00 a.m. and open it at 5:00 p.m. and come out of the shop with everything running... nobody would be allowed to talk to me anymore lmao imagine how bad it was with distractions that I had to say this
