Since we got a couple of pieces on wireless charging. Hyundai Introduces Robots To Charge Your EV The charger plug is on robot arm. I think the rest is self explanatory. The article has a video(might have to turn off adblocker). There are limitations in that the car needs extra equipment to open and close the charge port door, and communicate with the robot. Plus, the arm may need a larger motion range for other models. Wireless chargers have similar requirements though.
LOL, what a society we've become i suppose the best part is that people can't leave their car with the evse plugged in, but the robots need to move the car out of the space.
Welcome Hyundai to the robotic charging arm. No big deal if you're ½ decade late to the party - as Tesla did these demonstrations at least as early as 2018. With the concerns of AI getting out of control by Musk, one has to only flash back to the Matrix movie - to be reminded of the sentient arms of their Ai adversaries flailing about. .
Is Tesla still working on it, or do they just want you to hire somebody in a robot costume to plug in your car now.
Here's one example... But as Elon has explained many times, robots suck at sticking wires through holes because there's too many variables to confuse it, which is why he's cut costs in big ways by replacing wiring harnesses by embedding the copper inside the parts. So expecting a robot to fill every model of car with gas without failure is an unreasonable expectation, but AI might help?
As a first grader I remember multiple service attendants coming out like this, to take care of a car's needs on the one & only family car. The station owner made enough doing wipers, antifreeze, gas, oil, filters & an occasional map .... that he could pay multiple people to check tires, etc .... & still pay for his franchise lease and make a decent living twisting wrenches changing spark plugs. Now - virtually none of that ... & yet Gas is over 10X more expensive. LOL! Oh the irony. Eventually AI will be able to have machines repair the machines & develop code. Then what kind of work do the humans do. .
Part of the interest in this and wireless charging is to address refueling of autonomous cars. If that seems possible, and ICE cars are still around, they'll make robot gas pumps. Last time I got gas, I didn't have to snake the hose through the dash and a hole in the firewall. What does Tesla's wires in the car parts do to repair costs? Adjusted for inflation, the gas price then might be more than today. Gasoline Prices Adjusted for Inflation | US Inflation Calculator We'll make great pets.
#1) Holes in the dash on an assembly line isn't as hard for a robot as seeing bird poop landing on the edge of your target hole for gas just as you're about to stick it in! You might have to shut down and red triangle your customer (for safety). #2) Why would Elon care about repair costs? His brand loyalty is invincible... And he's got the blue check marks to prove it!
