My battery pack is shot (230k, cells are all pretty bad) - I found a used one with 100k on the pack for 650 - anyone else have sources for longer lasting batteries? Alibaba has new ones - any opinions are greatly appreciated

$650 isn't a bad deal for a used battery. But you have to determine how old it is and if it really has low 100k miles.

Anyone else with ideas for batteries - turns out the 650 battery pack was for Prius c - I need either all new cells, or a lower mile battery pack... Seems finding 8nfo here is not so easy

Try Toyota dealership part departments in your area. Price could be about $1650 to $1950 for a new battery pack.

Thanks - where did you get your info? My Toyota dealer quoted $4500 - a far cry from 1600 . Anyone with sources high or low - I'm kinda desperate

I remember fotomoto member on here had a link for Alibaba batteries he as rebuilt 2 or 3 ones with new one not used for like $999. I'll keep searching for the link. Your location and demand might drive up the cost Olathe Toyota has a new OEM Toyota battery for $2,200 OTD but also had a core charge....But you would have to pick it up. Not sure if that is practical for you. They are in Kansas and your are in SoCal...Well wait a sec. Irvine,TX? Maybe? How far can you drive? I'd all every dealer within 300 miles and borrow a car.

The $1600 to 1950 is what I have seen listed for the part in threads here on the forum over the last 12 to 18 months. This is just the part price and you would need to remove the old battery and install the new battery yourself.

Tusin Toyata, which might be near you, online parts price is presently $2102, but it is showing that the battery is on nationwide backorder. There is also a $1350 core charge that you must pay, but will get back when you return the old battery.

Yes I’m in the market myself for a new battery or whatever I’m trying to keep cost low cause well I’m broke .. I live in so cal and it’s my first time on this chat … it is the first major thing that has happened to my 2012 Prius V …It just dyed on me going down the road …it will turn on but won’t go in gear and the gage for the drive batteries is purple so I’m hoping I’m rite but I’ve always been a pretty good gusser so I thought this chat would be more helpful I’ve already removed the battery and I think I’m going to hybrid drive batteries there local and it’s 1000 bucks for a battery with a 1 year warranty or for a 3 year warranty it’s almost 2000. I’m going for the 1 year warranty and hope for the best … I wish you all the best of luck with your Prius and I let you all know how it goes with my choice and if anyone has any good advice info let me know and I’ll say again good advice or info not lies or story time ….thank you for your time

this chat is very helpful, but sometimes you read what you don't want to believe.

there are only a few sources for new batteries

used batteries have potential but also risk

rebuilt batteries are the same as used

the less they cost, the more likely the rebuild was not done well. but a high price is no guarantee it was.
