A/C compressor only works while braking from highway speed

    Air conditioning only blows cold while coming to a stop from 65+ mph. Recently took it to the dealership where they checked for leaks and pressure and came out with nothing. Where should I start?

    Has the refrigerant ever been refilled? How much did the dealer charge to tell you nothing is wrong?

    It hasn’t to my knowledge been refilled. I had one shop look at it for over an hour and didn’t charge me a penny because they couldn’t find the issue. The Toyota stealership in Roseville charged me $209 to tell me it works fine.

    On the 3rd generation prius, if you have the car on ECO mode (not sure that's on 4th gen), the AC will not blow very cold. If you have that setting and using that setting, maybe you should try the normal setting.

    If the problem still comes back, bring it back to the dealership. You don't have to accept the original Tech's diagnosis, ask for the shop foreman to make a better diagnosis. You did pay for it.....
