Honda isn't calling out the hybrid as a hybrid. The trims above LE and EX simply have the hybrid drive train with nothing in the name. It is a new hybrid system. The first hybrid trim, Sport, is just $1000 more than the Prius XLE.
It isn't new new. Just a new generation of the system in the last Accord. No specific details in the article beyond the power and torque outputs.

Thread launch article listed the price at $27,295, which was very much in line with competitors Camry hybrid and Sonata hybrid. ...now $31,895? seems like a big step up in a short period, now considerably more expensive than the Toyota or Hyundai. A stylish tan interior is worth something to me, but that's stretching it.
if they are available, it will be worth it. can't touch a hybrid camry around here, especially the base model.

Looks like the Civic I rented. Nice car. ICE version and the shut-off at stop and restart was rough. Prefer the hybrid but have no experience with Honda's version.
Sadly, while it has dials, using the HVAC looks to still requires protracted eyes-off-the-road time: For vent mode it’s still tapping a button while looking down at LCD display. Dials for temp and fan speed, but you turn them while looking down at aforementioned display as well. ah well.
Yeah but temp and fan speed were always near the dials anyway, even before LCDs so if you really wanted to know, you had to look down. Most of the times, you would rotate by memory (e.g. how many speeds up do I need or how many degrees do I want to change. I'm usually not changing more than 1°C which is two clicks on the dial).
this is one of the things that makes me nervous about buying a tesla. everything controlled by the big screen in the middle of the car, even the speedometer. i feel like you almost have to pull over to do anything, and it is one of the biggest complaints on the tesla boards
The $27k price in the OP was for the base ICE model; within $1000 of the Camry. What is listed on Honda's site now is the same as the article. The Accord is a true full size sedan; it has more space than the Avalon. The issue with the hybrid price is that it isn't available in the base trim. Could be Honda managing parts supply beyond greed. Unless you are splurging on a Touring, the Accord hybrid has a lower MSRP than the high trim Camry hybrids.
