Emission credits work as a form of carbon tax. So no problem here. But EV subsidies can reward poor manufacturing and slovenly design. EVs need a clean-sheet design but many are just warmed over ICE cars and legacy engineering and manufacturing. Bob Wilson
He is definitely not a fan of subsidies. However, while the fossil fuel subsidies exist he will strongly suggest EV subsidies remain.
He wasn't in the room. I suspect the traditional automakers wanted them. Tesla makes a bunch selling emission credits. Even more from lower costs through better engineering design and manufacturing. Bob Wilson
