IMG_6865.jpeg IMG_6866.jpeg Car made it to 149,XXX miles before throwing the P261b code. Unfortunately I had to drive it on two separate occasions so… I put a code reader on it to keep track of temp - not the most accurate I know but better than nothing. Highest temp recorded was 199F. Thankfully it’s been cool temps here in Iowa which I think helped?

We decided to change the water pump ourselves and honestly it was pretty straightforward. Used the video from a member here which really helped.

I uploaded a photo of the magnetic rotor from inside the pump itself. It looks to have split, possibly causing friction in the pump and slowing RPMs (cannot confirm as code reader wasn’t fancy enough to check this). Does that seem accurate?

I did have a shop change the spark plugs and had them keep the plugs for my inspection posted photos of those as well.

Is there anything I should be checking for to make sure the pump is functioning properly? The P261b code shows to be permanent for my code reader BUT the CE light is gone.

Yes it looks like you have the dreaded impeller peeling You can buy that impeller online or you can buy a whole new pump whatever makes you happy either one of the two

Thank you! We bought a brand new pump and installed it - I don’t trust that the impeller/rotor didn’t damage the inside of the pump (I’m a worrywart)

Well, if your code reader showed you P261B, it was as fancy as you need: that's the code for low pump RPM.

Oh! Well that’s good to know my code reader isn’t as shoddy as I thought
