I’m an owner of 2006 Prius. Recently, I’ve encountered an issue where all the lights on the dashboard come on (Red triangle with exclamation, check engine, tire pressure, and VSC) while driving and I’ve noticed that it has happened on the freeway 3 times. The car runs fine; when the car is turned off and the turned back on again, the lights that remain are the triangle and check engine. In the OBD code reader, there are no codes that come up and those lights go away within a couple days. I’m confused as to what the issue could be. I’ve topped up all the fluids and the car has been well maintained, but I’m not sure if the 12v battery has ever been replaced.

I’m seeking some guidance as to how to move forward and what could possibly cause this issue. If I take it to Toyota, they’d charge $200 for diagnostics and that’s something that I can’t afford right now. All your guidance and assistance is highly appreciated, thank you so much in advance.

You will need to get the codes from the car however you do that it shouldn't cost $200 a friend something there are code scanners that go in your OBD2 port and then you read them on your phone Bluetooth Wi-Fi whatever they are there are small handheld scanners that a friend of may have You could use it maybe get the basic codes just depends you need to look under your hood and check the AM2 fuse is the little green car on the MFD that's the screen in the middle of the dash is that red when it's coating or does that car remain green colored is the best way I can describe it it'll have an exclamation point in it if there's a problem usually?

If you can’t afford the dealership, search here for inexpensive code readers that work with Prius.
The best is tech stream and mini Vic, but you’ll need some tech savvy to make it work

I’m not able to get the techstream software for the code reader. I just got the 12v battery replaced, thinking that was the issue, but the triangle exclamation light still comes on with all the other lights. I’m thinking the issue could be hybrid battery. While driving, the battery completely depletes, and throttle fails as well. This happened twice while driving, I had to completely shut the power off for a couple minutes because the throttle would fail, and turn it back on and it starts working again. Then, the next day the warning lights turn back off. What would be your take on what’s going on? Thank you so much in advance for your input.

Go to an auto parts store with a big fancy handheld scanner they'll come out and read the codes that that scanner can see that will give you a good place to start when you're hybrid battery displays on the MFDs energy display in the center of the dash and it goes from blue to green to magenta almost as fast as I'm talking maybe a tad slower than usually that is indicative or what I have noticed what is going on when the hybrid battery is very near the end of its life it's in middle of failing at that point It has been on our cars anyway We have four of the same vehicle here so many of the problems duplicate themselves on each car nothing real special happens It's interesting to have four or five cars that you own so you can watch this stuff and see how rare problems are not.

Stop guessing what the problem is. You need to read the trouble codes that you have. See post #4, purchase yourself a scanner like the Autel AP200.
