I was stopped at a red light and the driver of a Prius came up next to me in the left lane. She called out to me and asked what my Prius's year was and I said 05. She was in a left turn only lane and her light turned green. She pointed to the back of her Prius and told to me check the back or middle and make sure that IT was sealed properly and that IT cost her 4500$ because she didn't fix it. She didn't say or I didn't hear what IT exactly needs sealing in the back or middle of the Prius. Does anyone have clue what she might be referring to?
some prius are known to leak when it rains. open the hatch and pull out all of the flooring to expose the 12 volt battery, hybrid battery and spare tire well. if you have any water, you can hopefully find the leak with someone inside the hatch and a garden hose. known areas are the rain gutters under the black garnish, hatch hine bolts and taillights. she may have had corrosion inside the hybrid battery case. i can't think of what else would cost that much, although some dealers are outrageous with innocent customers. you can google the problem and find a lot of prius chat hits with detailed solutions.
