Hello. Does anyone have the part number or a suggestion on how to fix this loose trunk gasket? Thank you got your help.
Yes take the gasket from the top of the trunk center and a fix it back to the lip that it belongs on going around the trunk when you get down to where the latch is and you have 4 in of extra material You see the seam right where the lock is there's a rubber smooth seam like where the rubber was bonded together when the seal was new cut that with your snips or scissors straight as you can . Now bring the other side that's too long right over the top of the other side in the piece you just cut Make a mark on the rubber lift it up cut it again now set it down in the two pieces should line up perfectly Don't have it right try it again make another cut get it straight so when you put the two pieces down right under the lock mechanism they line up look straight and everybody's happy If there's a little gap there pull on the gasket and pull it around until it butts up squarely now take some urethane that you mount windshields with not the black plastic glue or RTV sealant but real urethane lift up your seal again and with a very small cutaway of the tube of caulk of the urethane mount that in your gun and put a small bead on one side of the cut you made on the gasket now lay that back down and butt it up against the piece that's sitting mounted where it's supposed to go squeeze it until some of the urethane oozes out up at you let it sit there for about 2 minutes and start to sit then you can take a rag with mineral spirits stoddard solution from dry cleaning might even be able to use goof off and just wipe up the excess material that oozed up when you put the two pieces together Don't close the trunk for an hour let that sit and dry It should be like brand new. If this is too much work a quick trip to the junkyard should net you four or five of these gaskets they might just let you have them nobody ever wants them
A phone call to dealership parts department would resolve the part number. Debatably the best place to purchase too.
Is that the original gasket, or a replacement? If it's a replacement, is it a Toyota OEM replacement or aftermarket? If it's the original gasket it has likely stretched. The part that hooks over the body is just metal clips. If it's not firm on the lip, you can carefully us plyers to close up the gap on the gasket so it will fit snugly.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, this is the original OEM. This is my son’s car and it got damaged while helping a friend move some bulky items. I will take a look at the metal clips that you mentioned.

Cutting? NO cutting is required, or should be. Unless you really damaged it. It just got pulled off. Follow the edges where it's still in place and just reinstall it...
It looks like it's been stretched and fagged out. But yeah put it down first and put it back on the rim that it seats on and do it carefully go all the way around the trunk lid obviously but if it's stretched and bowed down there where you should finish centered at the latch at the bottom of the hatch then and only then you could slice remove a quarter inch or whatever it's going to take to pull it nicely and then urethane it and be done or shoot just go to the junkyard and pull one off another car they'll probably let you have it they don't want it if you're in the southeast United States I've got like four of them sitting here hanging up You're welcome to come behind get one
