AAA jumped my 2013 plug-in hybrid Sunday (I had left dome light on). I couldn’t leave then, so I left it running for two hours during a meeting, as instructed by AAA, then drove to store, parked, drove home with no problem. Today I had to use mechanical key to open door, but couldn’t start the car even with fob on power button. I confirmed I had not left any lights etc on. Dome light very dim when I tried it, so there’s some battery left but not much. This battery is about 3 years old. Now what?
Two hours of charging of the battery is not enough time. The first thing I would do is use a meter to measure the voltage of the 12v aux battery. The second thing i would do is connect a 5 amp or less smart charger and charge the 12v battery for a minimum of 8 to 12 hours.
Needs a charger, or about 8 hours of run time. But even a 3 year old battery can fail if fully discharged. If that’s the case, there might be some warranty
