Like many of you, I had issues charging with the wireless charger in my Gen 5. It turns out the charger itself is fine, just the hole where the phone goes is too deep for my iPhone 13 mini and was likely designed that way to accommodate the biggest possible phones. If I held my phone up a couple millimeters off the bottom surface, the charger would work fine. So, I went to Michaels and bought a felt sheet for under 1 dollar and cut some strips to place on the bottom and raise my phone to the proper height. It now charges properly every time as long as I place it so that the charger area is reasonably aligned to where the charging coils are located on my phone.

I don't use the wireless charging slot because I want my phone up where it gets better reception (less battery drain).
I just wish it would charge my watch.

I am also having charging issues, but can't find any information on how the charger is supposed to work. I just bought a 2024 Prius with the charging slot instead of the charging tray for the phone, which is Toyota's older style phone charger. But the owner's manual describes the tray, which is not a feature in my car. Weird, right?

I have two questions about the slot. First, what is the meaning of the flashing and solid amber lights? (I assume the solid green light means fully charged.) I assume one means it's charging, and the other means it's not in the right position to charge. But which amber light is which?

Also, I want to know if the position of the phone matters--with the charging port facing the front or rear of the car, and with the phone's screen facing the driver's side or the passenger's side. Does anyone know if I drop it in the slot any which way? Or does it have to be a particular way? (I have an iPhone 15, if it matters--not the Pro, just the regular model.)

I actually called Toyota with these questions, and they didn't know! They confirmed that in the owner's manual for my 2024 Prius, it describes the older style charging tray, which again is not what my car has. Besides the fact that the owner's manual is wrong, I also think it's strange that the 2024 models have been around for almost a whole year already and I can't find others who have asked this question. And no YouTube videos about the charging slot. There are usually YouTube videos about everything! (I did find one video lauding the slot, but not describing the positioning or the lights, just giving Toyota an attaboy for the design.)

I replied to the question in your other thread. Pg 380-386 in your manual.

And are you certain you're reading the correct manual? The gen5(2023-25) has never come with a charging tray, so there should be nothing about one in the manual.

I use a charging cradle, mounted to the dash. I use the charging slot for storing a small utility knife and a compact pair of pliers.
