Hello, I hope someone will be able to point me in the right direction. I got a 2013 Prius v station wagon late last year, and this issue's popped up somewhat recently. I get into my car, start it up, give it a bit of time to load, then turn on the audio to connect my android phone and, nothing. I go to the audio screen, press source, nothing happens. If I repeatedly press the audio button I can get the radio, but the source button doesn't work. Playing around with it more I found I'm missing some buttons on the Setup screen, and hitting Apps gets a 'System Not Installed'. I think this is a problem with Entune? My version's 2.1.0. Heat seems to make it fail 100%, but shutting the car off and back on too quick sometimes makes it happen to, like after fueling on a cool day. I hope it's not a hardware issue because the dealer said they would just replace the entire radio unit for 2k. Yeah I love my music and being able to make/take calls, but I'm not spending $2,000 on it. Any suggestions? Solutions maybe?
This is a known issue with the 57011 head unit, heat cycling causes circuit board solder connection cracking . We just replaced ours on a 2012 v Five with an eBay unit from 2014. Just make sure you get the Harmon extension box along with the radio head itself. The R&R is easy DIY. Maybe 20 minutes on a warm day to ensure the trim is flexible. If you want to roll the dice and do a bit of source signal wire re-homing and connector modifications, you could replace the 57011 with an upgraded 2015-2016 head unit and extension box.
Yes. The bottom ‘slice’ being the Harmon extension box. Be sure any replacement includes harnesses, or connectors and pigtails, just in case. Go for the latest build date available. 2014 is probably the latest for a 57011.
