Hey everyone, I have ABS, VSC, and brake system lights on. I put the car into diag and got the following blink codes. But I can’t find what they equate to online anywhere. Does anyone know their translation to regular error codes? ABS - 3 3 4 1 Brake system ((!)) 3 6 VSC (slip indicator) 4 3 I had expected only two digits. But the ABS light is blinking four digits. Any help would be appreciated!
There can be multiple codes. The pause between digits is short between the two digits of a code. It's long before the next code. As you probably saw on this page: Blink (a/k/a Flash) Codes – How to. | PriusChat 36 on the ECB ((!)) light and 43 on the VSC light both just mean the codes that matter are the ones on the ABS light. I'll take your ABS codes to be 33 and 41 (because 34 and 13 would be weird; 13 isn't an ABS code in the manual). 33 is the C0210 code, something weird about the signal from the right rear wheel speed sensor. 41 is the C1241 code, supply voltage at the brake electronics got too low at some point. There are seven subcodes ("INF" codes) for C0210 and five for C1241 that help to further pin down exactly what the ECU saw. But you need a suitable scan tool to get INF codes; there's no blinky version of those. To look up the codes that go with the blink codes, you just look in the repair manual: Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat It makes sense to just go look there, because that's where you're going to find the troubleshooting steps to resolve the issues anyway (thirteen pages of 'em for C0210, seven pages for C1241).
For future reference, if anyone has a similar problem, the issue was the wheel bearing. The sensor was detecting that the rear passenger wheel wasn’t spinning freely.
I'd try lifting the caliper off the rotor caliper, verify it's not just brake drag. More info in my signature. (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures)
A dragging brake would not be the kind of thing the ECU would report as a wheel speed sensor problem. Even if it were dragging enough to slow that wheel down (which would be awfully drastic and noticeable, technically a skid), there would still be a working wheel speed signal showing the wheel was turning at a lower speed. (Traction control might kick in.) When the ECU reports a wheel speed sensor code, it's saying the signal that's arriving doesn't even look like the signal from a working sensor.
