Not that anyone remembers me, but I have returned to Prius ownership lol. I had bought a 2nd gen back in 2013 I believe. I ended up trading it for an Avalon when my wife and I had our first child in 2015. Then, traded the Avalon for a 1st gen Sequoia when we had the twins in 2017. The sequoia was my ultimate goal to aquire for my family. Now, our living arrangement has changed and I'm forced to drive 62mi to work and 62mi back home after work. After 6 months of 14-15mpg, this lovely black 2012 Prius Two came in on trade at my dealership. Was bought new at my dealership and EVERY SINGLE SERVICE was performed here. I'm pretty sure I did the pre-delivery inspection on it in 2012 (50/50 chance as there was only 2 of us techs then). I'll tell ya, 45mpg is WAY better than 15! I just ordered my Prius Off-road lift kit and skid plate as I live on my family's ranch now (my new living arrangements ) and it's a little close to bottoming out! BTW, Yes, I still have the Sequoia. I don't think I'll ever sell it. P.S. I'm still a Toyota MDT. I now have over 15yrs experience with Gulf States Toyota and roughly 25yrs or more of automotive knowledge, sales, and training. Got any Toyota tech questions? Ask away, I'm do my best to answer them.
Nice! The Avalon is a car I've always loved and wanted but my peep-squeak, French wife is very short and thought it was too big for her...she even thinks the Camry is too big...she has a new Corolla. My boss has an old, blacked-out Sequoia V-8 and loves that thing but drives an old Honda beater to work for the MPGs. We got our 3rd Toyota Hybrid last year...wife gave her old 2017 Prius to our daughter and she fell in love with the Corolla AWD Hybrid SE....just did her 2nd oil change even though she only has 2,500 miles (at 6-month point.) I did have a technical question...what is your maintenance schedule on the differential fluids in a 4x4 Tundra? (Front/Rear/Transaxle) I'm getting ready to do mine since it's been 3-years but I've only put 12,000 miles on her in 3-years. (She's my 4x4 for winter storms and we pull a camper around Colorado 3-5 times in the summer.) I'm wondering if it would be okay to just wait another year?
We usually go around 36k miles in my area. Central-west Texas. The high heat and dirt roads puts us in the "severe" side of service intervals. Everything gets bumped up. Oil changes, filters, and fluids need attention sooner.
It had just over 114k miles when I bought it. No EGR work has been done, but I'm sure I'll be taking care of it soon. I guess I need to do a little research on what everyone is doing to clean it.
