Second gen Prius key fob will only start the car within slot. Pushing key button makes no difference. I have text dream can I program it to work normally?
See photo of rewiring somebody did in console. Thanks have a great day!

Not sure what's going on there but you need to run those wires from the wire nuts underneath that white and red riding on that box that box has to do with your remote locking and unlocking and all that I do believe so somebody might have an alarm or something or parked there up still left you might want to get that undone and then put what needs to be back together together and eliminate whatever's on the end of that black wire what you're going to have to go look for must be heading under the seat or something under the console something I would think some kind of an alarm remote starter or something and that may be causing some issues with whatever's going on with your key fob or not going on with it so let's try and see where that goes and take a picture of what that goes to then we probably want to get that out of there and then put our wires back together without those two wires and whatever they're running to more than likely.

Did it ever start the car when not in the slot? If the car does not have SKS then what the OP sees is the expected behavior.

Do the lock, unlock, and alarm buttons on the fob work, or is entry with the emergency key?

This key fob does have sks functioning. Never worked since I had the car. No it does not unlock the doors nor alarm work.

Did you mean to say, "This key fob does not have sks functioning"?

Sounds exactly like a dead battery in the fob. Be careful when changing it not to lose the RFID chip, which is what is letting it start the car now.
