I came into some unexpected funds back in December and decided to replace the HV battery in my 2008 Prius, even though it wasn't showing any signs of problems. I installed the new battery myself, and the car has been chugging along ever since. Before I swapped the battery out, I used the Dr Prius app to save log files from several trips and ran its Life Expectancy Test. The results were: "Battery pack has estimated 56.35% capacity left, it is in fair condition." The old batteries have been sitting in my garage since then, and I'm ready to sell them off. What's the best approach? Sell them individually on eBay / Marketplace or try to sell them as a full set? They seem to sell between $25 and $35 per cell on eBay, but I’d rather not split them up if they are useful to someone as a full set since they are in fair condition. Best case would be someone in the Seattle area came buy and picked them up, but guess I'll ship if I have to.
Wish this was posted sooner. I am probably 3 hrs away from you and need to replace a bad Project Lithium Nexcell pack that I discovered was installed in the 5e back of my new to me 2007 Prius. I’d rather install a working used factory pack than run a potential catastrophic meltdown in my Prius at this point.
I'm an hour south of you in Olympia and might be able to help out? Best thing you could do with the old modules is mount it on a chassis and charge and balance and recondition and keep it on a shelf until a friend or family has their Prius goes bad so you can solve there problem and depending on who they are decide how much to charge. Alternatively, I could do that for you and I'd only charge the lucky winner labor charges, and they'd pay you for the battery when that day comes? Another option is Professor Joe at Hybrid Car Battery Distributor | Contact Us | 2nd Life Battery will send you a shipping label and pay you $200 minus cost of shipping as long as modules are what you say they are.
