Well, gf's neighbor who has been ridiculously ripped off by the stealership asked if he could borrow my tire pump.

I asked how the 2011 has been doing and he noted not good and the insane debt he owes on that car, albeit finally the engine and many other parts were replaced either under warranty or at expense.

I mentioned I can read the codes as I last recall him asking about where to get a MAF sensor as needed due to misfire per the stealership. Turned out they were wrong and they had to replace the EGR Valve to eliminate the misfire situation. Anyhow, last they told him was he needed a new harness and they'd do for $12K along with the other work.

What!?!?!? Read the codes and they came back with 215'C for P0A2C (reads like harness or connector related) and similar for the P0102. I didn't read into the troubleshooting steps for the P0031. We did check fuses and found the 10A EFI No.2 fuse blown.

I found the closest post noted that "... they found that one of the Bank 1 Sensor 2 - O2 Sensor wiring was causing the Short, as it was hanging very close or against the Heatshield."

We're all busy, though was wondering if anyone had a quick access and could post or had a reference to the wiring diagram of the engine area above. Also, maybe any quick check common locations where issues arise similar or same after swapping engine, replacing head gasket or in general. I think the troubleshooting steps detail enough, though wouldn't hurt for reference. $12k, though wow... though I see ~$3-4K for the harness alone from the stealerships all for tracing a short to ground reads like?

Humorous is similarly, the fuse is almost blown or blown enough. Reads 171'ish ohms since replaced and he drove around. I need to dig up some really long wires to make multimeter leads or determine where I placed the never used circuit probe electrical system tester tool that looks right for this.

$12,000 just to replace a harness is insane… sounds more like they don’t want to bother actually diagnosing the issue and would rather just swap everything out to save themselves the trouble.

Right. I started reading through what I've found so far online for free on the side, got my circuit tester probe with the long wires here and two days back I think (I'm still stunned from what I'm about to note) went out to find his back window broken. Well the jack handle went through it. Asked about how was going and we can start looking at the wires to see anything obvious. Showed him the links and mentioned codes and we can inspect the wires maybe and see if we notice anything before testing since at that time I didn't have the circuit tester there. Found the O2 sensor wire not on any of the clips though nothing worn. Plus the P0031 code is AF Ratio sensor so was more a read possibility and can check thing blind to the wiring diagram 10A EFI No. 2 circuit paths. Still, connected to spec and was mentioned can change the 10A EFI No.2 fuse again to check and see if did anything since he's been eager to check and test all fuses.

Went back to the gf's and came out later to find out he replaced the 10A fuse with a 30A and the car wouldn't start at all. Read the codes for him and found way more issues like the Engine ECU and VIN aren't being read. Plus some new codes after having him pull the 30A fuse and replacing with a 10A as a futile attempt to correct the situation.

Well, EFI No.2 isn't blowing now with the correct 10A installed and all the fuses test just great. I guess so do the relays except the, "what is that long white thing?"

There are new codes too, though the P0A2C is still present with the 211 and 530 subcodes and no P0031 or P0102. C1259, C1310, U0073, U0293 and U0100 with as I noted no US option or VIN present prior to reading the codes and no Engine ECU found. "Yeah!!! I want to swear now," as I noted in the referenced other post I never should have shared seems.

The neighbor and his Dad decided to bring the 2011 in to get looked at. The old lady decided to negotiate a Prius tow, as she's been pretty bad wanting to tow Priuses with her Prius. Here's her first.

I did grab a matching hatch and helped him swap that. So, will update with a video link detailing for prosterity. Also, what the shop finds out about the wiring and situation besides.

Note in regards to the hatch that the rear view camera models have the cut outs where if there was no rear view camera you will be drilling at least two holes for the screws and either another or a stock design square section for the harness connection.

Do we need an age-walled section on PriusChat for photos like that?

I admit, I need to be careful with the Prius porn. I do have an addiction... at times... well, I mean I don't have an addiction since I know my boundaries?

Hauling the hatch, I know, not impressive. Though the second photo seems like a neat roof cargo carrier design from that view (not an addiction since I like genuine Toyota parts and materials).
