A few oldies today. Two foxbodies (a Mustang and a Camaro), and what I'm pretty sure was a 60's Maro. Also a really sweet Shelby F150.

Saw a black Vinfast VF8 today. It basically has the same shape as the Toyota Crown Signia; until I saw VINFAST across the rear trunk.:censored::LOL::love:(n)

I saw a beautiful late-model Alfa-Romeo Giulia on my morning commute through Pittsburgh today.

Well, it was the Pontiac. Saw another Solstice. The front badge of the model has a bold V border to the Pontiac point. Enough that I didn't notice the brand point on the other one.

    A gorgeous Ferrari 330 P4, I assume it's a replica. Saw it on the I-15 N near Fallbrook.

I had a ride in a Rivian SUV last night. I was in the front passenger's seat. I made sure to look up how to get the doors open if the power failed. I don't love the lack of standardization or regulation in this area.

Lots of headroom, shoulder and hip room too. Not so good for footroom, and it was a long climb up from the street, relatively speaking. I guess that's the thickness of the battery in the floor. I also noticed that the cargo area behind the 3rd row of seats seemed to have a very high deck.

The truck was kind of quiet- obviously no engine noise but the HVAC system was busy and making lots of noise on its own. Once we were on the highway it was hard to tell it different from any other big SUV.

The seat was very comfortable and the cabin materials were pretty nice. Hardly any rattles even when we hit big bumps.

Middle Eastern buyers like it that way, and they're buying more of those than anyone, which means they get it their way.

I logged into my local Mercedes dealership to see if they have any service specials or just to see if they list how much an oil change was. Nothing. So I Googled it and it says dealers will charge from $180-450 based on the model...just for an oil change.

Zonkers! Looks like I'm never owning a Mercedes! (But we did have one, as a rental car, when I deployed to Italy in the early 2000's....super fast car but the drivers' seat was horribly uncomfortable....I had a better seat in my $13,000 2012 Sion car!!) Our favorite rental car was a VW Jetta turbo...that thing would SCREAM which is what you need on the Italian highways where everybody drives like Mario Andretti!

Okay so I saw a pretty unusual car today. It was a mystery car- something new & presumably unreleased. It had that wild black and white swirls and noise pattern vinyl wrap all over it to disguise it.

Plus it was a blobby shapeless crossover, those are already hard to tell apart without the masquerade.

I happened to notice this car merging onto the freeway behind me, so I mostly saw it in the rearview mirror, and that might be the key to identifying it: the now-ubiquitous safety camera pod on the mystery car's windshield was a large, symmetrical two-camera setup with a distinctly Subaru EyeSight vibe to it.

I don't know where Subaru is in their replacement cycle for their models, but this was about the right size and shape to be a new Crosstrek.

Subaru has slimmed down the Eyesight camera housing.
This is what it looks like on my brothers 2024 Crosstrek.

The middle camera is a wide angle one that sees more of the near sides than the stereo ones.

The gen6 Imerza/gen4 Crosstrek came out in 2023. New Forrester last year, and Outback this year. The Ascent is due for a redesign. Assuming the spotted car is using older style camera housings.
