Definitely will, I have a theory they are charging me for having to open a box of 6 individual quarts and charging me for the 6th quart because “what are we going to do with a spare quart” and the fact they order them by the box of 6, still a stealership kind of thing to do to put the burden of not having 5qt bottles ordered onto me.

That must have been in the 1970s when last checked so that conclusive.

When you think about it, the Prius engine doesn't work very hard and uses premium synthetic oil.
Why should it wear out and burn oil?

If you managed to wear out a Prius engine, I think you may be the exception to the rule.

I'm not very anal about exact ounces of oil capacity. Since I switched to using full synthetic about 30 years ago, I haven't had an engine wear out or burn oil, and a few have made it past 300,000.

    What do you consider "excess?"
And how often does this happen to you?

I'm old enough to have had hundreds of oil changes,
I never heard of any engine damage from over filling.

    I was kidding. The V6 Camry took 6 - 6.5 quarts and all 4 cylinder Camry's took 4-4.5 quarts.
The 2.7L Tacoma's took about 6 quarts as well as their V6 cousins......

    Hope this clears things up....

Majority if not all dealerships use bulk oil contrary to what your receipt says.

I don't do oil changes at oil change shops any more, since an experience I had.
There was only one filler hose in the guy's hand when he asked me which oil I wanted.
I'm sure I could have told him anything, and he would have pretended to be using that oil.
I think they order cheap oil in bulk from a place called "Service Station Supply."
The oil they sell is reject oil and dangerous for your engine.
