I think they opened one of these and charged me for the excess, just did an oil change with the ex-Mercedes mechanic that lent me tools to do my own rear wheel hubs, rotors and brakes job. What we noticed, the dealership over torqued the filter can to the percolator filter, but they didn’t fill me up with 6 quarts because what we dumped out fit into the 5qt container perfectly with .6qts already in it.

Most of the big dealers have bulk oil. With overhead lines and hose reels coming down between the bays. Some techs will lock the dispenser handle on and get distracted and fill the engine to the top. It can do big damage if you dont drain it.

It's illegal and unethical to charge you for things that they DID NOT put into your car!!! If they tossed that extra quart and a half into your trunk - that's the ONLY legal way to do that!!!
This may be just a clerical error, but I'd get to the bottom of this and wouldn't pay for oil that I DIDN'T get.

    but that's just me.....

I know, that’s a picture at my work. I clean floors at a huge dealership but that’s the boxes I see everywhere in the mechanics garage being thrown away everywhere, guessing that’s how they get oil, in boxes of 6.

NO; 55 gallon drums of oil is way cheaper than the 6 quart cases! My dad had a small transmission shop and we ordered 55 gallon drums of transmission fluid. We only did about 2-3 full transmission overhauls a week and the rest was maintenance work.
Unless that dealership is in a very small town and doesn't need to compete with anyone - they must be passing the extra cost onto their customers.
