I have a 2012 Prius C Three. I recently bought and installed a new headunit (just one off of amazon called the Hikity Android 13 Car Stereo). I was able to get everything working except steering wheel controls. I was able to identify the Key 1 and Key 2 wires and properly connect them, but when trying to connect the Key GND (SWG) wire from my new head unit to my car, the SWG wire is missing from my car's 28 pin connector, in pin 23. What do I need to do to get it working?

    Thanks!

So is the swg wire in another pin on that 28 connector? I don't have the wiring diagram for that car . But seems logical

Is it really a different ground path? have you tried connecting the key ground wire to chassis ground?

I don't have the wiring diagram for that car either.

It's available here if you really get stuck.

Thank you both for your help, I tried grounding it but it didn't work. I ended up getting a canbus thing and now it works.

Yes generally you buy the can bus adapter for the stereo or steering wheel . Crutchfiels and Grant had stuff for these models long ago.

You usually need a CanBus translator box to hook stuff like that up. Older cars that doesn't have ECU's, you can manually wire directly - if the ports support that.
