Georgia mandates E-Verify for public employers, and for most private employers with 11 or more employees.
This means that, at the very least, the "rhymes with Sunday" company was and probably IS criminally negligent.
Folks in their head-shed need to be perp walked to court and somebody needs to open their eyes with a 7-8 figure fine.

They didn't have the proper documentation to be working in the US at the time ... pretty simple to understand.

At Toyota all the Japanese Coordinators and Trainers were required to have the proper documentation when working in America - when we went to Japan to train and work we were required to have the proper documentation .... pretty simple.

This situation is very easy to correct, and I am sure the South Koreans and Management at the Hyundai Plant have already corrected it.

You and I don't know the situation or the circumstances - chances are this was not a random action they would have had good reason for going in there - you don't know if Hyundai hadn't been warned to straighten up that particular situation and hadn't responded.

Regardless the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an outstanding car and the rest of Hyundai's EV may be even better.

To assign political, emotional and human like characteristics to a vehicle made out of plastic, metal, rubber etc is not emotionally mature.
It is as cuckoo-for-coco puffs crazy as damaging someone's personal property (a Tesla for example) because of your political beliefs.

You wonder what road our society is going down when it is okay to assign political beliefs to a car, Catholic children attending mass in a church or even a public speaker at a college because their views might randomly be assumed to be different than yours - not cool.

You kick the poor family illegally entering family out - & you are bad orange man. You kick out Multinational Corporation employees entering illegally you're bad sociopath. All that seems to be important is the other side - bad.
You'd think after observation of cashless bail & a dozen releases for criminal activity & how badly it fails - that someone standing up for the law would be good, but nope. When it comes to crappy leadership on both sides, you make your choice and then live with it for 4 years.

The I.C.E. agents were apparently poorly trained and lacked knowledge of this provision.

I believe most of the people apprehended was working the construction side of the facility. I believe the construction firm in charge used the aged old excuse of; they're "contract workers". I don't know the guy or have any contact information; who buses them in everyday and I just cut them a check. Did they fine those companies? If prosecutors actually prosecute those companies, this would stop. I see this all the time with farmers and farm workers. The workers get arrested and the farmers get a finger wag; wink, wink.....
That's like the DEA raiding a crack house - arresting all the drug addicts and cutting the dealers loose - telling them to go find new customers. In order for things to work; both sides of the issues needs to be addressed - otherwise it's like playing wack-a-mole. As long as demand is still there; there is always going to be someone willing to supply.

It doesn't help when ICE is arresting people at the immigration building during their scheduled appointment; when they are actually trying to get legal.......

I see both sides here but lets be honest - they're going after the low hanging fruit; NOT the murderers, rapist, and felons - because that's actual work and because that sounds better on TV.

Cashless bail DOES have a good use case in some communities to prevent relatively minor offenses from wrecking an already "disadvantaged" person's life.
In some cases it allows a person to continue to work and earn money that would eventually pay fines and court fees, OR not lose their job in rare cases where they might be jailed for a crime that they did not commit.
It really can and it really DOES help some people modify their behavior before they slide further into the system.

Like all things political, this system has been utterly and completely perverted into what we have today with people shouting their edge cases at each other, and violent criminals running loose, AFTER LEOs find and book them into the system.
I believe that cashless bail could and maybe even should continue in many cases EXCEPT where violent crimes are at issue.
REAL violent crimes.....not violent crimes that are dialed back to misdemeanors to make the numbers look better!!

Either way - they should have been flagged or cleared by actual paperwork in the visa.
Yes. the ICE agents could have erroneously yoked them, but again.....300 seems like a large number to be present under those circumstances.

It's hard to say one way or the other because fake news often leaves important details out of the story or obfuscates them. I try very hard to listen to both sides in every story but....

Having been deployed once before to the Republic of Korea, I'm fresh out of rate to give about their 'feels.'
Maybe have some more of THEM grab a carbine and stand a post on THEIR northern border instead of American CAC card holders on 2-3 year unaccompanied tours - and I might reconsider my admittedly biased views.

Heck....It would be budget friendly to boot!

Cashless bail is not an automatic release for free after plea. If the person is a danger to the public or a flight risk, then they aren't released. No matter how much wealth they have. The goal of cashless bail is to counter punishing people for being poor and 'legal for a fee' perceptions.

There is also less of those dangerous ones than was claimed in certain outlets.

 

The Trump administration is denying non-US-citizens any right and abusing them. The day might come for the US citizens as well.

And if you are in a foreign or international location, you get a bomb dropped on your head, like that Venezuelan boat, people in Gaza, people in Qatar, etc.

I remember admitting B-1 non-immigrants in the 1990's in what was then called
Visa Waiver Pilot Program.

Any individual admitted for 90 days was not required to secure a visa at an overseas embassy or consulate and agreed not to contest a removal and not entitled to a deportation hearing.

That's why the Koreans admitted under that program departed and did not contest their removal.

As far as the number allowed to come into the US under the program, there is no limit, as long as they abide by the requirements of the program under the B-1 status.

The equivalent B-2 visitor for pleasure status or tourist, likewise, has no limit.

 

This sounds like one of the 'bugs' that needs to be addressed in our immigration laws. To be clear, I'm pretty sure this only applies to our close allied countries - I'm sure there's a bunch of exceptions here.
I know most other nations require an annual, quarterly or semi-annual check-in to remain, or must exit the country for a week before returning. The alternative is to apply for a long-term visa, where you'll have to document your net worth and income sources - so they can determine that your not going to become a burden upon their nation.

 

Up until the arbitrary and capricious action by ICE, the program has worked well and efficiently.

This country claims to be one of laws and fairness.

It is hard to tell if they were legal or not. I do not trust ice to tell the truth after so many lies. That ordeal with sending non criminals to a prison, that were later released was pretty telling that ICE will lie to the courts.

The lawyers claimed they were on waiver visas. I have used these to do work in malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan and you simply have to answer that you are there for business and how long you are staying and the customer. To set up factories in south korea and china I was required to get work visas. South Korea was 15 years ago, now they have visa waiver program. My south korean work visa was good for 5 years to stay a maximum of 90 days each time.

The tell that ice is probably lieing is the lawyers for the koreans said that they were on visa waivers, and trump administration delayed the plane leaving to ask them to stay. Only one of the korean workers decided to stay to help set up the factory, the rest flew home. They probably had all the information on the south korean workers in the computers and could have simply asked them to leave, but the raid was for tv drama. Don't get me wrong companies should be fined heavily for breaking the rules, and unfortunately right now there are massive numbers of undocumented working with full knowledge of companies.
