    Oh my!

How have you routed the jumper cables?

They just run on the floor on the right side of the pass seat. It's a "temporary" arrangement. (I don't have any rear seats or any rear interior panels at all to make more room for cargo, long story.)
A wife would yell, but I don't have that problem.

Oh, you've run them back to the battery in the back?

    When said this up-thread:
I interpreted you to mean the front jumper point, which a lot of people mislabel 'the battery in the front'.

    That makes more sense now.

Yes, the jumper cables run from a wrong battery that's in front of the pass seat to the back. (I forget what size battery, walmart sold it to me used for $20.xx+$10 core. They supposedly installed it in some car because the guy had to have a battery that night for an emergency and then the guy came back a few days later demanding a full refund because it wasn't technically the right battery.)

Is there a reason you don't just install the correct battery?

Yes. My Prius. It would damage the stock battery in a day by draining the voltage too low when the car sits. I'm not going to invest in the correct battery until I have time to sort out the current drain.
If I remember right, pulling the fuse for the locks reduced the drain. The button under the steering wheel effected it too, but my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Not sure how this helps the Op who has a broken 12v main cable.

There may be a connection through unorthodox junk box attempts to keep a Prius running.

He broke it because he has been disconnecting and reconnecting (the wrong) cable. Fixing the cable won't fix the reason why he has been disconnecting the battery.
I mentioned the arrangement I'm using to make disconnecting the battery easy because 1) no more broken cables 2) somewhere in the thread OP mentioned considering changing the battery location to make disconnects easier.
(No part of the rear works for me personally because the car if often loaded with cargo, making the manual hatch release very cumbersome to reach and sometimes impossible to reach).
