Hello, I must be horrible at using search feature here as I can't get a single hit on this question. I'm going to keep trying but throwing my question out into the ether incase I don't find the answer.

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my engine. I am at the stage of hoisting the engine then taking all the bolts off where the engine is fixed to the transmission. I am using a 3 part series video for fixing oil consumption by updating piston sub assembly and rings. In these videos the mechanic says he uses 2 bolts from the engine, he says the bell housing bolts are too short. I'm trying to figure out how to decode this as the engine is fixed to the stand with 4 bolts? Is there 4 bolts from the prius that I can use or is there only 2 and I'd have to buy 2 more from lowes? I want to say it's m10×1.25 with atleast 70mm of length if I have to go buy them but the video makes it seem there's already everything I need from disassembling the engine.

It appears as I just need to go to Lowes and get some m10 x 1.25 x 4 inch bolts. I don't exactly know what the guy was talking about in the video but it's best to just get that size bolt from the depot stores.

That's right it depends on your engine stand mine's an old snap-on. You will need bolts that have to go through the swinging arms on the engine stand plus the protrusions tubes on those arms for clearance around back of engine whilst mounted so 4 to 4.5 inches some washers and nuts no need locking type. These came with my stand 35years ago stay in toolbox top drawer. Need to pay attention to how the engine mounts to the stand put it on the wrong way and it'll just fall over the whole stand .

Concur. Bring along a bell housing bolt to check diameter and thread pitch.
