How much is your local "Trump at the Pump Tax?"

Costco was $4.40 a couple days ago. Others are $4.70 today.

 

Back on topic... midgrade at my fave store has gone down to $5.89 -- which, on Maui, with no refining and few storage facilities of its own (well, not for civilians) is huge, $0.20 down. For now

Maui Oil, which caters to mostly fleet businesses like tours and bus routes, has reg at $4.89 -- about $0.60 more than pre-Trump Operation What Epstein Files. Midgrade however, is only $0.35 more at this fleet store, which is on par with the $0.40 more for my any-schlub store.

Fuel in esp neighbor islands, is always going to be grossly more expensive than typical flyover states prices, esp since the fuel has to travel by ship all the way from the Middle East and/or Texas. Can just imagine the mayhem if we happened to get our fuel solely thru the Straitjacket of Whore Moves -- people would be smashing up Priuses out of pure spite

 

Diplomatic agreements are never binding. They work well when the parties involved really intend to get along, and not at all when they don't.

Consider the many treaties the US government made over the years with the Native Americans, pretty much all of which were later violated, in many cases, almost immediately. (Lately Gorsuch's "if it is written that is how it is" legal philosophy has been putting a brake on that slightly, in one case essentially giving a big chunk of eastern OK back to the local tribe.) Or the famous Budapest memorandum, under which Ukraine (also Belarus and Kazakhstan) gave up the nukes held when the USSR broke up, with security assurances from the US and Russia. Well, we all know how that played out, Russia invaded and the US government, particularly the Executive part, has been pretty "meh" in its Ukraine support. Starting with Crimea, then the Donbas, and finally the full scale invasion. Considering just since the full scale invasion, Biden's administration tied itself in knots trying to stay out of it and finally provided some weapons, with a huge dump of them in his last year. Trump's administration keeps patting itself on the back for not spending a penny on Ukraine (although congress passed the 2026 NDAA which provided $400M for that country.) Which is surprising because Trump clearly favors Putin over Ukraine. For instance, just today Trump bailed Putin out over the whole parade fiasco, forcing a 3 day ceasefire on Ukraine (for the day of the parade plus two extra days so Russia has time to hustle its air defenses back from Moscow into more effective positions). Wasting many Patriot missiles in the Iran conflict (at a horrible $ exchange rates vs. the cost of their targets) had the "side effect" of reducing availability of those devices for Ukraine. Ukraine has cost effective ways to deal with drones and cruise missiles (which the gulf states quickly realized and immediately entered into agreements to obtain), but it still needs the Patriots to handle Russian ballistic missiles.

 

It was $6.10 for 87 today at a Valero.

I was "shocked".

FWIW, (ok here we go ) but still less than I was paying 4 or so years ago with Joe Biden's gasoline mishaps.

 

How can he not, when he keeps finding new ways to hurt this and future generations? On the campaign trail, one of his favorite sayings was "The Democrats are trying to destroy the country.". As a progressive, I take offense at that and up until now, would never have said that about the other side. I prefer to believe that we just have different visions about how the country (and the world) can make the lives of its citizens better. I am still not willing to assume that most people on the other side want to harm those that don't agree with them. I cannot say that about their leader.
