Came across this Facebook post from a company claiming to have a lithium swap for the Prius that includes a new master BMS. Has anyone seen or heard anything about these packs from Yesa? Manufacturer website - Technical Commercial Benefits of Yesa Master Bms In Lithium Pack for - Yesa Facebook post - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BwQuVo2rc/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Well that's what they all try and convey but seemingly this is very problematic . It has a battery in it an HV battery . No matter it's voltage and Killowatts and all that . Building a battery takes some doing . Or more doing than being done . Not sure .
I haven't reviewed this product. I will review it if/when someone sends me one. My recommendation is to ask the manufacturer if it has a per-cell BMS with supervisory control.
They are clearly attacking the last company who tried to retrofit lithium in place of niMh. Primarily stating the Toyota bms will overcharge aftermarket lithium modules and create reliability and safety issues. The marketing shows their new "master bms" measuring from one end of the assembly to the other end. The facebook "file" description states "It monitors pack voltage/current in real-time and intervenes (e.g., disconnecting or limiting) to prevent the vehicle's charger from pushing lithium cells beyond safe limits". The "Master BMS" mounts on top of the modules with thermal paste between. Nothing references individual module or cell monitoring.
