I am paying $840 semi annually full coverage for a 2017 pp advanced. This is not a plug for an insurance company just wondering how that compares.
In what state? My premiums changed enormously when I moved from Michigan to Indiana. But it's not just that it's cheap in one state and expensive in the other: it is structured differently, so the difference can be balanced on the other side by how much you spend on legal costs collecting from another party. That's an example of why the comparisons aren't just simple.
What do you mean by this, do you have collision and comprehensive deductibles? FWIW, our 2010 Prius insurance is a little over a $1000 CDN per year, with deductibles of $500 and $300 for collision and comprehensive respectively. Liability I think we've got two million, should check lol. IIRC this is with 40% reduction for being accident-free for some time (accumulates over the years), and an additional percent reduction, maybe 5~10%, for low usage, under 5k kms I think, something like that. Anyway, without the reductions, it'd be maybe $1500 CDN, yearly, around $1100 USD. This is through ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia), a "crown corporation", the main insurer in the province, and virtually a provincial government entity. They also handle driver's license, license plates and so on. There are other insurers, but AFAIK ICBC is the only insurer that can cover everything, they're one stop shopping, and competitive. There's an extensive list of ICBC approved body shops, and apart from commencing a claim, such body shops handle everything, assessment of damage, and so on. This AI summary of ICBC's scope of coverage is about what I'd expected: https://share.google/aimode/IexIQevNFepoCl3yy
we pay $1,200. each/ year for our '24 hycam and '23 chevy bolt, full coverage. and Massachusetts has been one of the more expensive insurance states for a long time. age matters too, as well as what city/town, at least here in MA.
