Porsche is moving full steam ahead with plans for a new hybrid version of its Cayenne SUV, with the company releasing new information about the vehicle at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. Porsche says that it's targetting fuel consumption numbers of 9.8 L/100 km. in the Cayenne hybrid. Though these are ambitious numbers on their own, engineers are actually pushing for even better numbers than that in the future. Full Article 9.8L/100km is about the Camry's city rating.. so that's what.. 20 something mpg? 21 or 22mpg. Not bad considering how heavy a Cayenne is.
At least Porsche is doing this with it's ugliest car to date... hell their tractor line looked better. And no offense to any Cayenne owners out there
Lotus engineers designed most of the electric Tesla roadster Porsche has always been a revolutionary company. I'm sure they will do well w hybrids too I'd love to see a 600 hp hybrid 911 twin turbo They could probably get 40 mpg and 200 mph
30mpg at best. I don't think Porsche wants to add too much weight and compromise handling. They were aiming for 20ish mpg for the Cayenne so 10mpg extra for a 911 isn't too far stretched is it? Besides, WHY are there two (fake) seats in the back anyway? It's just a small round seat bottom and a small elongated circular seatback for the shoulders and nothing in between. They don't even bother with a full seat so why bother at all? (and I say put the batteries there!)
Old Dr Porsche probably wanted the 2 mini seats bcus he was very much into practical things, He probably thought of them as emergency seats Today having 2 seats in back lowers your insurance costs on their top end Porsche like the GT2, GT3 they do remove the rear seats to lower weight I could definately see Porsche doing a Tesla type electric or hybrid sports car Even Ferrari has been talking about possibly doing a hybrid
