    You may consider it "spewing", but it's the truth... if more people felt the way I did, there'd be far more hybrids on the road.

    You're right, if more people didn't consider the Prius a "hippy" car more people may buy them. I guess I cannot say you were wrong on your other points since you gave a viewpoint and didn't state any assumed environmental facts. That is why I apologized.

    no problemo...

    I just irks me that owning a cool car (the prius) is constantly overshadowed by people turning it into a political statement...

    it;s not a political statement - it's a car, and probably one of the best I've ever owned!

    I'm likely to disagree with you politically and on any environmental issue but I completely agree with you here. It is a great car for someone simply looking to save money or someone wanting to do a little better for our health or the environment. IMO a car should not be used to make a statement. Just drive and enjoy the sucker. :)

    While it's true that people buy the Prius for many reasons, I wholeheartedly agree with the OP's view that burning less gas overall is what matters, rather than posting high MPG numbers
