Here is Ferrari's Director General Amedeo Felisa in an interview with Auto Motor and Sport (pardon the rough Google translation of the article from German to English): The CO2-Diskussion achieved even more sports car manufacturers. How important is the issue of hybrid you? Felisa: A hybrid solution will come. We see the hybrid but also dynamic aspects. Besides which: From now on, every new model is more economical than its predecessor. I think Amedeo is asked next if the Enzo will be a hybrid and he replies "no. The main focus of Enzo - successor will be on his performance." Amedeo also had a few words to say about diesel too (again, pardon the Google translation from German to English): If the diesel an alternative? Felisa: diesel models achieve extraordinary performance. But their power-to-weight is bad. We achieve our consumption targets without diesel. Amedeo also says "we reduce the weight through a clever chassis architecture. Less weight equal to less consumption. " On behalf of all the green car lovers out there, YIPPIE! http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/209228/hybrid_ferrari_blasts_off.html Hybrid Ferrari blasts off This new Ferrari concept is a technological showcase that points the way to the next generation of prancing horses 27th June 2007 Mille Chili (front) made of lightweight carbon fibre Looking like a mini Enzo, it's called Mille Chili - in Italian it refers to its weight: 1,000kg. It's made almost entirely from carbon fibre and has carbon ceramic brakes. Power is from a petrol-electric hybrid mated to a new double-clutch semi-auto box. This will help the firm meet tightening emissions laws. Unveiled at Ferrari's Fiorano home as part of its 60th birthday celebrations, the Mille Chili also features a radical interior with fixed seats and no dash. All the driving information is contained on the steering wheel, and the pedals can be moved to suit different drivers. Active aerodynamic systems cut drag or assist braking. While the Mille Chili doesn't run and will never be built, its technology is set to grace future Ferrari road cars.
I'm not so enamoured of Ferrari after last season's fiasco in Formula 1 (Formula Farce-ari?), but another hybrid is always nice to think about. Somehow I doubt the emphasis will be on saving fuel.
unlike the Bugatti EB 110 tank the hybrid Ferrari will focus on speed through light weight A 1990 F40 V8 twin turbo can get 20 mph and do 201 mph, but not at the same time a new Ferrari hybrid should be able to do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, top 200 mph and return 25 + mpg I would expect a carbon fiber tub & body, 2800 # or less weight, mid engine 6 or 8 cyl, ceramic regenerative brakes, sequential trans, and a very sexy body
mmhmm.. no doubt it'll be limited to their highest performing car first before filtering down to the F3xx range.
No, but mom has! BTW, to return IT. I had a look around. No news on the Italian sites - NONE! On the UK side, though, tons! And one thing for sure - it's just a study. Will never hit the road!
Didn't mean hybrid when he said hybrid A correction to the OP's article has since come out saying "But he said we'd never build a hybrid like people think of a hybrid, like a Toyota Prius" http://blog.wired.com/cars/2007/12/ferrari-boss-di.html
Its been said before, theres no real reason why they cant build a very luxurious high performance sports hybrid I'd buy one if they made it attractive, and it was fast enough
