Got it on the 8th. Traded my '04 4Runner in on it. Decided that at 16 mpg with no relief for gas prices in sight, it was time to do something about it. So, far (still on my 1st tank of gas) I'm getting right at 40 mpg. It is still kinda winter here in Alaska so I'm expecting it to get better as the weather gets warmer. Gotta say, I'm loving it. Read all could find on how to get even better mileage. I'm a uber gadget geek so, the Prius is right up my alley. There are a few things I miss. I miss not having a sun roof, heated seats and my iPod2 Car iPod interface. Really, I mostly miss the iPod interface. Been poring over these forums for a solution but I haven't come up with one I feel comfortable with yet. I'm getting by with the aux adapter right now. Anyhow, I wanted to stop in and say hi. Dave
Hi Dave, congratulations and welcome to Prius Chat. You can add a sunroof to the Prius (couple of people here have done it). Enjoy the ride!
Congrats! I'm always amazed how many new prius owners there are. Seems like there are always 2 or 3 of these posts everyday. Can't wait to get my second prius next year for the wife.
Re the iPod interface, I admit right off-the-bat that I have never owned an iPod (although I've bought a few of them for my kids over the past several years.....but they are grown and have flown the nest now) and know very little about them other than that they are not inexpensive, but isn't there a plug for that sort of thing located inside the center console, or am I thinking of something else?
The AUX input jack in the centre console is for all mp3 players (including the iPod). The iPod connection uses a data cable so that CD-TEXT can read and that the iPod may be controlled using the car's radio controls. wow 40mpg in Alaska in the winter? Very nice!! Congrats and welcome to PC! Of course if you browsed the forums, so you probably found that people have added a moonroof, heated seats and iPod interface hehehe.
Thanks all, for the warm welcomes! Won't be doing an after-market sunroof. No way. Heated seats were offered as an option from the dealer but, at $400.00 per seat, I'll be skipping that too. As for the iPod interface, I am currently making due with the aux input inside the center console. I keep it powered via the 12 volt plug that resides there as well. I do have some ground loop feedback but not enough to really bother with. As soon as I find a proper interface that I am satisfied with, I'll see about that. I'll be keeping everyone posted. Dave
Yeah you can get heated seats professionally installed for less than that. Heck I think both sides can be done with taxes for less than what the dealer charges for one
