Let's all meet at the Highlands Greenfest! When: Saturday, May 3, 2008 (Rain Date: Sunday, May 4) Time: 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. Where: Bubbling Springs Park [MAP] 1428 Macopin Road West Milford, NJ 07421 Priuschat folks: We will hold our "GREEN-PRIX" rally in conjunction with the Highlands Greenfest! Please reply to this post with car name/ team name if you plan to participate in the "GREEN-PRIX"! What is the "GREEN-PRIX"? We will all meet at 10:00 AM, reset our MPGs, then drive a predetermined route, returning in time for lunch to compare gas mileage readings. The route is quite hilly and it will challenge all of your high-MPG driving skils. We want to have a prize for the person who gets the best mileage. The prize has not been decided yet. If you have a prize to donate in exchange for publicity, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks, Rand PS: Yes I've been out of touch for a while - too busy to even think about going online over the past few months! Looking forward to a nice meetup!
I posted this earlier but your post looks more professional. I plan on going and take a look at all the exhibits there. please let me know who else is going so we can all meet eachother. This will be my first prius meetup How long will this GREEN-PRIX be?
I look forward to meeting you, Big Dog. I live in WM and I will be planning the route. I think it should take between 30 mins and an hour, based on where I'm thinking of taking us, it should be enough to challenge our skills and still give everyone time to enjoy the rest of the festival too. Do you think the route should be longer or shorter than that??
Sounds good! Sure would like to have a Port Authority Green Pass by then. Then I could come back into Manhattan for $4.
30 min to an hour sounds great. That's awesome that they will have VIP hybrid parking. I was excited earlier now I am Ecstatic. Just let me know what time everyone plans on getting there.
OK - I worked this out with the Highlands GreenFest people so we will all ride in to the finish line "convoy" style. We will need to meet and start in a parking lot just down the road (Eckerd) at 10:00 AM, and we will start the GREEN-PRIX rally (NOT a race) at 10:30 AM sharp. To get some more people involved, please print the attached flier and put it on ANY hybrid that you see (parked of course). Be sure to tell people to POST to this thread if they are going to participate. The Highlands GreenFest crew need to know how many parking spots to reserve for us!
We are now mentioned on the Highlands GreenFest site at http://www.sustainablewestmilford.citymax.com/page/page/5891552.htm with a link back to PriusChat.com! No let's see how many Prius we can get to attend!
I guess everyone is busy doing their taxes. Maybe when they are done they will look at this thread and then decide to participate!
eep! Please don't confuse this with Green Grand Prix, up in NY state, which I was just posting about. The two events directly conflict, unfortunately. Aah well, that's what happens when the weather starts getting nice and people want to hold lots of events! _H*
Nope - this is our own little (emphasis on little) event in Northern NJ. There is the Highlands GreenFest and it gives us an opportunity to act locally and have a Green-Prix in the Northern New Jersey area. NO cost to sign up - fun but hilly route - slim pickings for prizes. Just come out and enjoy the day!
The route will only take about 45 minutes to an hour. We want to see the exhibits too! We will meet in front of the Drugstore/Shoprite parking lot at 10AM and arrive convoy-style at the Highlands GreenFest around 11:15 - 11:30.
I will be there until the drum-circle at the end of the event. Even if you can't do the rally at least you will be there for some of the other stuff!
If I hadn't already planned on going to the Green Grand Prix in N.Y. I would join you. It's about as north in N.J. as you can get. Planning another meet in the same vicinity in the future? I might just stop by to say Hi.
Thanks for the reply! Sure - why not? Since I can't go to the "Green Grand Prix" in Watkins Glen, NY, and since we have the Highlands GreenFest, I decided that it was time to "Act Locally" - hence the "GREEN-PRIX" We can do this at our next NJ meetup too! The Highlands GreenFest people will be setting up a finish line and VIP parking for all GREEN-PRIX participants, so they need to know in advance how many will participate. Thanks, Rand
