Just ordered it and will have it installed in a couple of weeks. It'll replace my cable internet/television/telephone. The monthly bundled rate will be a little bit less expensive than my current package plus landline. Consumer reports give decent reviews. Any users here?
I love it, but for one thing: The DVR will randomlly forget to record shows; even shows it's got a season pass for. And it's odd how it happens. I have to set it each week, for example, to record Bill Maher's show. I am not sure why. Otherwise, the internet is very fast, the phone works...although, I would make sure you have at least one old fashioned phone around, you know, the kind that does not require batteries, so when the power goes out, you can still make calls.
Thanks for the input. Does the dvr skip on the non premium channels too? Did you get the 5mb upload /2mb download speed? Did you get the multi television dvr or just the single tv dvr?
I have it for internet service only, and mounted the ONT inside in the basement as opposed to outside the house. I also have static IP service, which possibly also gets you better service as the "business fios" people actually have a prayer of being able to spell IP or DNS as opposed to anyone else there. It's been solid, but with a lingering dread of the inevitable two hours on hold and diagnostic finger-pointing if I ever have a real problem. The technology is great, the people supposedly supporting it are cretins. . _H*
nope, sure would like fiber channel to the home though. I have cox cable, it works. 12/1.5 better then dial up! My aunt has Fios though, and barely uses the bandwidth, she has 30 down..pretty zippy, this is in southern virgina.
Hopefully you mean 5 down, 2 up. It would suck of them to skew it toward faster upload at the expense of download speed. Here in the Sacramento area, I have Surewest fiber-to-the-home with symmetrical 10Mbps. Surewest fiber is extremely reliable and never, never, never slows, so no need to contact tech support . . . which is kind of like talking about Toyota and reliability. I get phone, TV, and Internet through Surewest. Hopefully Verizon fiber is as reliable for y'all.
