So I am reading some new posts today and discovered a post, authored under my sign-on name BUT NOT SUBMITTED BY ME!!. It's now a week old. I use multiple notebook computers at work and suspect someone posted under my name there, but I can't be sure. I've thought it was so convenient that Prius Chat's site keeps a log-in after leaving and returning to the website, but now I'm concerned about how many computers have me signed in. There must be at least a dozen! Who should I talk to about closing out my screen name if it comes to that? Thank you-
Palmetto, I hope that offer to drive your car across state and give it to me for $500 still stands. I sure need the extra Prius. :wink ZC1
Just change your password to your account. Once you change this if anyone has your login credentials saved they'll get prompted for a password (since your old one is now invalid). Make sure you control your email address (may want to change that password as well) so someone can't use email to receive a new password.
It's never good practice to use "automatically sign me on" on computers that anyone other than you has access to. For the rest, although you cannot "delete" a post, you can edit a post and delete the entire text, replacing it with "I didn't post this" or merely a period, to comply with the prohibition against an empty post. I knew a woman once who suffered from multiple personality disorder. In her case, there were two distinct personalities, A and B. The A personality knew about the B personality and remembered whatever B had done. But the B personality was entirely ignorant of A and remembered nothing of A. When she snapped from A to B it was like waking up in a strange place with no idea how she had gotten there. But she soon realized what was happening, and began keeping a notebook. To her friends (me included) it was obvious which state she was in, as the two personalities were so different. A was outgoing and confident and cheerful, and often downright reckless or oblivious of normal social mores. B was shy, withdrawn, frightened, and (curiously in my view) psychologically unable to utter the personal pronoun. Instead of "I feel bad," she would say "Feel bad," while under the influence of B. The transitions were obvious, and could sometimes be triggered by an event that disturbed her for whatever reason. I hope you are not suffering from a similar condition. My friend went to a psychologist and after 6 months or a year of work, was able to re-integrate the two personalities into one, which was very like A, but without the self-destructive recklessness.
ZC1: I don't think you need my Prius when you have such a tricked out ride of your own. Good job on installing a Lockpick yourself! Mingoglia: Will changing my password be effective to stop posts on computers that have me currently signed in under the old password? Good suggestion anyway and I'll do it. Daniel: I deleted my "phantom" post and replaced it with a message suggesting that I wasn't the poster. Editing was a great suggestion that I've never before had reason to use. Now I know how! Hopefully, this issue is now a memory...hopefully.
