(nothing in search) OK, quick and odd question - what is the license plate bolt size? I pick up my Prius this week, and I'm transferring plates that I'm bringing to dealer. I attach plates to my cars using stainless steel hex head bolts and want to bring these with me. Most cars seem to be M5 or M6, and only a short couple cm length is needed. Thanks
i cannot answer your question but did the front plate kit only come with two screws in your car? i know mine only came with two when in reality you need four to make things work. i simply asked the dealer for two more when i visited after buying the car and had the plates in hand. sorry to interrupt your thread but i am guessing you did not get them either!?!
I happen to have a Toyota license plate screw here on my desk at work, which I took from a dealership last week, for some odd reason. The threaded part is 5/8" long exactly. The outside diameter of the threaded part is 7/32". The head of the screw is 6/32" tall. Maybe you can test out some bolts on a friend's Toyota.
The thread diameter is 6mm. The required length varies depending on your frame. EDIT: Note - I believe most foreign cars use a 6 mm diameter thread, while most American cars use a 1/4 inch diameter thread.
Why are there only two holes in hatchback for screws? I would love to use 4 screws, any way to do this myself safely?
For both the front and rear license plates, the license plate attaches via the two top screw holes. I use four screws. For both the front and rear license plate bottom two screw holes, I use a shortened plastic screw and nut. In addition, for the rear I use a pad so the screw and nut do not scratch or dent the metal.
They used to be just for show. But then I attached little round bumpers through my front license plate's bottom holes -- see photo: http://priuschat.com/forums/care-ma...5495-rear-end-collision-today.html#post596320 And then I attached an L shaped hatch handle through my rear license plate's bottom holes -- see photos: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-m...ck-hatch-prius-kinda-stupid-5.html#post618825
