August 17th is the day! Watch a screencast introducing some of the new features in Firefox3 . . . http://people.mozilla.com/~beltzner/overview-of-firefox3.swf Then pledge to help set a new Guinness World Record for the most downloads in 24 hours (you don't have to give an email address, just pledge) . . . Spread Firefox | Download Day 2008 Release notes for FF3 RC3 . . . Shouldn't change much with FF3 Mozilla Firefox 3 Release Candidate 3 Release Notes I have been using FF3 since RC1. Absolutely love it!
SWEET !!!! Thank you for the news! Firefox is awesome. (funny fact: I was at an Apple store earlier today and I told one of the employees that since iTunes updates automatically download Safari, I decided to try it. The quality of resolution of images and text was terrible. He replied to me .... "I agree with you. I use Firefox.")
I have to say, I'm really disappointed in how Mozilla has handled this release. They apparently weren't prepared for the demand that would be put on their servers. On the few occasions I've been able to get something other than "Service Unavailable", I get poorly rendered pages with no links to Firefox 3. I love Mozilla and am looking forward to the new version. But the actual release has been botched.
I was able to download about 30mins before actual release time. Here is a link that seems to work at the moment. This is the win32 en-US release http://pv-mirror02.mozilla.org/pub/...eleases/3.0/win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 3.0.exe I'm guessing that you could download any version as long as you follow the mozilla file naming in the URL.
I wouldn't be quite so sure. I went there too, but after installing, nothing looks to have changed. Here is a screen shot of my FF3 RC3 I was going to include in the OP: . . . It's the same as the 'new' FF3.0. There is the possibility that FF3 RC3 passed with flying colors and they just released that as 3.0 . . . or the mirror sites don't have 3.0 yet.
I saw on some tech sites that you could get the download using mirror sites. But it looks like they finally have the hiccups worked out. www.mozilla.com now comes up with the download links. Just installed on my secondary work laptop and downloaded on my primary.
Well there it is. I downloaded and installed off the above link, and it turned out to be the same, unaltered program as my FF3 RC3 as shown in the image above. No need to reinstall if you got it earlier from a mirror site if your "About Mozilla Firefox" has the same version number as in the image above. NOW GET TO DOWNLOADING!!!! They are trying for a world record . . . about 5 million downloads in 24 hours.
I didn't know there was a new one coming out until three minutes ago, and now I have it! Some say I have poor impulse control...
I got it. Unfortunately, my favorite theme (iFox Smooth) doesn't work with it (yet), but other than that, I can't see any noticeable difference.
Got it. What's iFox Smooth? Who remembers the config settings for multithreading and other things to speed up surfing? I went to "about:config" and got the warning, "this might void your warranty."
Hey wait! My Dictionary Search add-on now works. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/68 Grate! :whoo:
