yeah, that could be. How does it work in Japan? They use the generation id (aka 3rd gen) ? Ken1784, looks like your hunch about "fleet sales" was right. See post #10 on this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/50294-09-prius-brochure.html
We enjoy an irregular model change. We use NHW-10, NHW-11 and NHW-20. The next gen will be NHW-30. Ken@Japan
Just ordered a Prius today through the Costco program. We don't expect delivery until December or January. We were told that the 2008 model is sold out in the US (or a least orders have been placed for all remaining production). They believe that the 2009 model will be released in October so I guess that is what we will get. We were told to expect something like a $200 price increase over the 2008, but they don't have the official numbers yet.
How did that work (through Costco)? We have a Costco membership but it hadn't occured to me to order through it. I assumed since the demand for the Prius was so high, there would be no benefit/savings going through Costco...We haven't ordered ours yet (next week!). eta: Just looked on the Costco site and it says the Prius is excluded
I just noticed that the Costco site states that not all models are available in all markets. Maybe that is what happened in your case. We set everything up on the Costcoauto.com website and had no problems. Got a call from the Costco specialist at the dealer and made an appointment. Went to the meeting and gave him the details of what we wanted, and were done in about 20 minutes. The guy is also the Toyota fleet manager and that is how the Costco program works. Costco was his biggest fleet customer last year. The deal was not all that great - a fixed amount over invoice, but it was just under MSRP which is pretty good since I doubt anyone pays less than MSRP in these market conditions. There are some other things we got like 15% discount on parts and service, free oil changes and the option to make appointments for the oil changes instead of coming in and waiting like everyone else. I think these discount is tied to the Costco Executive card the other things are something dealer offered. The best part was we didn't have to deal with a sales person at all. It was all done according to Costco's pre-arranged rules and pre-negotiated discount. Works for me.
I went back and searched through the older posts. The first report, in the main forum, of someone actually driving an '08 home was on 9/9/07, so that puts the '09 in early September for actual delivery if '09 holds the same as '08.
Shouldn't this thread be in the main forum? The 2009 model has nothing to do with the 2010 model. How 'bout it admin ...
Don't be silly. People pay extra bucks for undercarriage crap for their new Hummer H2's - so it all gets back to "There's a SUCKER born every minute." To suggest, even for one part of one SECOND, that Prius quality (or Toyota quality overall) is in question - after the drop-dead world-wide LOVE affair with this car - is pure ignorance of facts and willful stupidity on your part. Get real, sir or ma'mam. As the case may be. : )
