I have a 07 Prius that has been very good until recently. I noticed road noises coming from the front passenger side that are increasingly getting louder. It sounds almost like a plane taking off as I accelerate. I thought it may be the tires, but when I had them changed out the noise continued. Has anyone had this problem or know what the issue may be? Thank you in advance for your help
Assuming you are still under warranty, I would let the dealer look for the problem. I haven't had any issue like this on my 07 w/ 23k miles.
I have this exact problem! it sounds like a drone from a jet engine as the car gains speed, I could never pinpoint the problem.
Since your car had been in an accident, is it possible that an axleshaft is slightly bent or otherwise damaged?
Debris around the brake pad and rotor was my first thought. The only accident I was in with the car was that a truck backed into me and just dented the bumper, but I will have to look at the axle shaft as well. I will be bringing it to the dealer tomorrow to check it out but any other suggestions will still help. Thank you all for your help so far.
The dealership says it is the wheel bearing, as I am luckily still under warranty it should be taken care of. I get the car back tomorrow and will keep you posted.
mine does the same thing around 50ish and then again about 70ish. i do not know what it is. its loud like the tranny needs to upshift, but obvsly. that isnt the problem. so now i think ill look into making sure the transaxle oil is up to specs
