It's 70 deg F down the plains today. About 55 deg F up hear at 8200 ft. And it's sunny. I wish it would snow or rain. It's been almost a month since we've gotten any real precipitation. Next week there's a pretty good chance of snow up in the mountains, don't know about Denver.
Well it rained in Los Angeles today, first time since last March! I sat in the car for a couple of minutes to check it out, got bored in 3, went back inside. OK bring back the sun and fun in SoCal!! 73 de Pat KK6PD
I like to watch it come in over the lake. You can see a storm 70 miles away. On the other hand, when you are out in the middle, those storms can be pretty scary. Tom
I bet. It's something I've wanted to experience though... heavy weather sailing. I'd just like to do some big boat sailing, some cruising somewhere. My wife gets motion sick when it's really windy though, so I don't think I'll be doing much of it. One of the neat things about the desert is watching a nasty thunderstorm roar in with an impenetrable curtain of rain sweeping the desert floor. The dust rolling out from the downdrafts is pretty neat.
The Great Lakes would be hard on your wife. We get some of the worst chop you can find, which makes for a very uncomfortable motion in a storm. When the ocean freighters come into the lakes, the crews often have trouble with motion sickness, since the motion is much different with the short, steep waves. On the other hand, it's very nice when the weather behaves itself. If you ever get out this way, you have a standing invitation for some big boat sailing. Given the weather we get, there's a good chance you could get some heavy weather sailing in too. Tom
You're a top man. I'll take you up on that sometime. I may try to get on a newport - bermuda crew sometime. The problem is I don't have any big boat kit (harness, foulies, etc).
