Would any of our Toyota dealer techs (or others) know if a different sized tire diameter or revolutions per mile can be 'programmed'? In particular, I have an NHW11 and would like to change the tire diameter for an accurate trip and speedometer. Thanks, Bob Wilson
oh.. you'r talking about changing the way the odometer reads? there is a ways to set the navigations on 04+ but in my opinion it really doesn't do anything...
Exactly, I need the car to know the actual tire diameter so it will give me true speed and distance. Thanks, Bob Wilson
The figure has to be in there somewhere, but it's not likely considered one of those 'user servicible' items. Which is too bad, because a car is bound to have a different size tire fitted during its lifetime. Even a cheap little bicycle computer has this feature.
There is a screen on my '09 but at the moment I forget where it was. I provides a means to recalibrate the spedometer when a new tire is installed and requires you to drive the car a bit.
I was speaking to a Toyota tech the other day and went into the garage and he showed me their computer. It can reprogram many functions, one of the things he mentioned was different size tires.
Speaking of NHW20 Prius, I could not find any procedure to change the paramter on the Japanese repair manual. I think it is not legal to change the parameter in Japan. Ken@Japan
