Today is Friday the 13th. - My housemate overslept - The gas station was out of unleaded - Forgot to close the garage door - Housemate witnessed a bad car accident - My cellphone lost it's Bluetooth pairing with my car - Housemates cellphone acted weird too How was your day?
My day is FABULOUS! My order from The Date People arrived, and they are perfect. Work on our fence began a day early... yay!! "Quality time" with DH was great this morning Yup, it's a Good Day
We are in pretty good shape. The fuel tanker managed to cut ice and come in with a fresh load of gasoline, so the Prius should be good till spring. Tom
In the Hindu culture, 13 is considered a lucky number. The 13th of the month, and Fridays the 13th, have never been any different for me than any other day. Some really bad things have happened to me in my life, but none of them was ever on a Friday the 13th. "Luck" is a concept that has no connection to the real world. When something good happens, we call it good luck, and when something bad happens, we call it bad luck, but those are just abstractions of a mind that demands moral causation for everything. We imagine that there is some sort of "spiritual" substance called "luck" which you might possess more or less of than other folks; or we imagine two substances, good and bad "luck." If you possess good luck you'll win the lottery. If you possess bad luck you'll break your leg. Certain times or places augment or decrease your supply of good or bad luck, causing or preventing good or bad occurrences. But it's all bullshit. Stuff just happens. Period. If you are alert and cautious you can sometimes avoid bad stuff. If you're an idiot you're more likely to walk into bad stuff. Seize the day, regardless of what number the calendar puts on it.
13 is a generally lucky day for me... I was born on a 13 . . . . . . . . . . I also got the Hong Kong flu on the 13th... that really sucked. . . . . . . . . . . Come to think of it... my last divorce was on the 13th... and the day I found out that the second wife was a cheating deceitful witch out to screw me out of my money and business was on the 13th... and the day I cut the end of my thumb off in the wood splitter was on the 13th... and the speeding ticket going 135 was on the 13th... . . . . . . . Hmmmmmmm... . . . Now that you mention it... Maybe I ought to call ahead before I leave my desk...
Hehehe. 82 degress and sunny here today. (Insert gloating icon) I'm not moving even if the new laws do make me "give up the goat".
Well, its 74 outside, sunny, got the AUX noise taken care of this morning, went to the beach, helped with a car accident on the freeway before on duty EMS showed up, and getting ready for work tonight. Don't want to jinx it or anything.
I was born on a Friday the thirteenth. They're usually great days for me, and today's no exception so far. I had a good sleep, daughter number one is feeling much better after her recent illness, the dog had a great checkup, we got a free new-to-us couch and chair via some relatives, I got a new client, and we got invited out for dinner tomorrow. Keep it coming!
I agree. Or, as I say, s*** happens. I purposely walk under stepladders, step on cracks, all the things that are supposed to "curse" you for life. I'm just peachy ....
My cleaning lady washed the coffee maker in the sink. It now trips the breaker. NO COFFEE!!! Send help
Well that was yesterday I'm hear today so I'm good. I went to my second funeral in a week, is that bad? Had a beer or 4 with mum, and 2 of my brothers. Met up with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Not a bad day really.
Wait a minute ... she washed the *entire* coffee maker in the sink?? Fire the cleaning lady In a pinch, you can make "cowboy coffee." Put a small pot of water on the stove, bring to a good boil, add 2-3 tablespoons of coffee Coffee with sludge is *guaranteed* to wake you up first thing in the morning. I'm pretty sure it will also raise the dead, provided they aren't too stinky
If you're middle aged, that's *normal* Hate to say it Pat, but we're all getting older ... And as we age, relatives older than us can be expected to pass away. People we knew from grade school drop of a heart attack (Guy I knew from Grade 7 died that way a couple of years ago, we're the same age), etc I figure it's just part of that adventure we call life ...
about as well as the last Friday the 13th, which was last month.... that only happens what?? once every 7 years since it can only happen when it falls on Feb in non leap year lets see. got my $200 performance bonus for Feb today....then again it is payday...so could be coincidence. last month was day SO got flowers delivered at work... that was rewarded... so that turned out ok as well. besides, its not really Friday the 13th anyway... remember we screwed up the real calendar centuries ago, so who knows what day it really is??
