Just put on the chrome wheel skins on my 08. They look great. Just pull off the trim ring and they snap right on. No extra weight issues. Got them on line Suburban Wheel Cover. $90 with shipping and worth every penny. Check it out
PICTURES!!! I saw these on Ebay and wondered what they really look like. The ones I saw were plastic - are yours?
Yes they are plastic but they are very shiney and don't feel flimsy. I really don't think you can go wrong. They don't look like plastic. My 09 Ram has chrome clad wheels that are basically plastic. Those cost $1000 and these skins look just as good. It is a really economical way to dress up the car
They are listed at $79 for the set of 4. Hubcaps, Used Hubcaps, Custom Hubcaps, Hub Caps, Center Caps, Wheel Covers, Wheel Skins
They are plastic but they look better than the pictures. And I figure I can always take them off in the winter. It was a nice upgrade for under $100. No remounting, no extra weight, 2 min to install. You won't be sorry
I might just give them a shot. I need to order all new trim rings (my wife is not so good at paralell parking...) anyways...
I may just get new or factory chrome rims when it's time for tires, because I just don't like the way the trim rings look, chrome or not. They seem to look like good quality though, enjoy.
I am thinking of ditching my full factory plastic covers on the touring package. Why would anyone cover a powder coated aluminum wheel with a plastic cover? Only problem is there is no cover for the hub so I need to look for a small hub cover.
They make the hub covers, they are called center caps, I got them for about $40 plus shipping, this one is a decent buy: http://priuschat.com/forums/private-sales/60444-2004-2009-prius-center-cap.html
So, let's say you want chrome covers for a 7-spoke touring model wheel. These folks might be the answer: Plastic Chhrome - vacuum chrome metalizing, chroming plastic, color chrome plate Maybe even chrome bumpers fore and aft -- Hey, why should VW have all the bling? -- shark fin, spoiler, whatever... the sky's the limit! Standard disclaimer: I have no connection, association, or affiliation whatsoever with these folks... it's just for fun. BTW, I was wondering; is chrome a color, or merely a reflective, full spectrum surface treatment?
The plain aluminum wheels look great. I do not understand why they would spend all that money to powder coat an aluminum wheel and they cover it with a cheesy full plastic cover.
My wheelskins are on their way. They left the USA yesterday. I think the plastic covers are to protect the wheels from drivers who drive like my wife, using the curb as a bumper.
Pat, Are the 'skins coming via air or surface? Which is another way to ask, Do you expect to see them before the summer solstice? Or would that be the winter solstice Down Under? :noidea:
Express so air. I hope I have them by the end of the week. they are showing as still between Chicargo and Australia
