What is the priority buyers group and how do you get on it? Is pricing lower? I am a HUGE fan of Prius's and have an 07.
Prius priority buyers group are a group of extraordinary individuals who because of their intelligence, wisdom, wit, deviliciously good looks and overall general sex appeal get to purchase a 2010 prius before the general public. I don't believe it was quite as exclusive as being a Mason, but I'm sure there was some sort of clandestine vote to ensure only the dead sexiest of the dead sexy were included. Oh, I think it might have, maybe, possibly also had something to do with being an active part of this forum....Toyota acknowledging people's input and passion about their cars.....but that's really reaching......they truly were the sexiest of the sexiest. I'm sure if Pat P. or Tom get a wind of this thread, they'll gladly chime in. These packages were color coded (silver, gold, platinum) to match their relative worth of options and the buyers (did I mention how dead sexy they were?) could pick a package and pay a set price below MSRP, (guesstimate deleted as Rick has pointed out that it was incorrect). Hope this helps *Edit* I'm NOT a priority buyer.....
Boo - the opportunity to participate in the Priority program has long since expired. Codyroo, the discount amount is incorrect, but is also not for public discussion. The program is basically Toyota's "thank you" to those of us who have advocated these cars for such a long time. As a "pioneer buyer" of a 2004, I'm looking forward to doing it all over again for the 2010 in the next few weeks. With any luck, I'll claim the title of "first 2010 owner in AZ".
(1) Step into your Time Machine; (2) Dial the clock back a year or so; (3) ... (4) Become an active member of PriusChat; (5) Wait for the personal invitation from Toyota. Sorry, but I don't have the necessary Time Machine either. Nor do many hundreds of other PC members.
That's true, as far as you and I know. But winebuff would get better or at least official answers to his questions from the horse's mouth.
All it takes is a year? Sheesh, I dialed back to the Y! Groups days and started then when I only had my 2002 and was anxiously waiting the 2004 deliveries.
I believe they will be receiving what is referred to as the "quality check" vehicles. That being the first ones off the assembly line.
While some may be, most will not. They're thrown fairly randomly into the mix of vehicles as they're turned out before production ramps up to full speed.
According to Doug, I don't believe that is the case. See link below. http://priuschat.com/forums/2010-to...il-10-19-i-believe-post832306.html#post832306
You're interpreting that post in a very different way than I am. He was addressing only the cars in the photos posted by Ken. He didn't say anything about those being the Priority people's cars. In fact, if you look carefully at the photo referenced, those are right hand drive vehicles.
I believe you're right efusco. On first glance, it appeared Doug was saying that the "quality checks" would only be sold internally. Which made sense in that the priority buyers would be treated like family and be sold a pre-production vehicle that had been "gone over with a fine tooth comb." On second (and third) read though, I don't believe that was the correct interpretation. I can't find anywhere that "quality check" vehicles will be mixed in with regular production though. Guess that's just common sense? (which I appear to be lacking from time to time)
Don't forget you have to be a resident of the United States of America too. I would have qualified by the criteria in Codyroo's post but for the fact I live in Australia. I did however get an invite to Prius Connection Detroit which was awesome!! I'm guessing my key to the group was 5000+ posts on PC and my love of Toyota.
Pat-any interest in moving to the US? j/k. Seriously, there are more launches to come, maybe some of the rest of you will have another shot at a program like this in the future. But, word to the wise, there are many inputs and it's definitely quality over quantity so please don't go spamming the forums to get your post counts to 5000! Erica
Awww come on Erica! You mean I went and created this spam macro to artificially inflate my post count for nothing? If I wasn't back in school (broke) and have a 2005 Prius that has given me zero issues (over 90,000 miles) I'd jump on the 2010! Soon Toyota, soon I will purchase another vehicle and I'm sure it will be as grand as my current one.
You offering me a job so I can get a green card? I have been to the Australian launch and am on a priority order list in Australia but it is a different program. To get on this program you need to be a US resident. Now I just wait to see if Toyota Sales USA has a job for me.
Winebuff, aka me, is actually a she and not a he :cheer2: I am a fine wine rep here in Oregon. Do they like nice wine? We could barter
